Sugar Detox to get healthy in the New Year

I don’t know about you, but I’m done with the excesses of Christmas. But I’m not done with it in a ‘ready to stop’ sort of way. I’m just looking to my annual January health kick, and this year it will involve a sugar detox. Christmas is the one time when I manage to totally stop working for a few days and relax. And like most people, this results in self-reflection and a few life-changes for the New Year. Health-wise, I feel like I’m on a slippery slope at the moment. I’m consistently attempting to eat better, exercise more and…

TomTom Touch Fitness Tracker – Review

A few months ago, I reviewed the TomTom Spark Cardio sports watch. I absolutely loved all the functionality of the watch and have been using it ever since. The only thing I was a little unsure of was the size of Spark Cardio. It’s a great watch with incredible functionality, but it looks a bit bulky on my arm. So I was extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to review one of TomTom’s latest gadgets, the TomTom Touch fitness tracker. TomTom Touch Fitness Tracker – Aesthetics The TomTom Touch is a fitness tracker rather than a sports watch. The huge advantage of the…

Run Walk Crawl Gower 50 – Review

I know what you’re thinking. You don’t expect to go to a family blog and find a review of an ultramarathon. But occasionally it doesn’t hurt to try something a bit different, so this is my review of the Run Walk Crawl Gower 50. Who knows, it might inspire somebody else to give it a go. On Saturday I set off at 7.40am from Llanmadoc with 180 other people and one dog (Bubbles) to circumnavigate the whole of the Gower Peninsula on foot. That’s a total of 50 miles. Run Walk Crawl Gower 50 – the route The vast majority of the route follows…

Not going on a diet

Over the past few months, my weight has been bothering me a bit. A few times, I’ve decided it was time to go on a diet, but something always gets in the way. A birthday, a meal with friends or just a nice bottle of cider on a Friday night. And that’s why I’m not going on a diet. I know lots of people do fabulously well with meal replacement or low calorie diets, but they’re really not for me. So, I tried to eat a bit more sensibly – I decided I needed a lifestyle change rather than a…

The Malvern Spa: Review

I was delighted to be invited to spend a day at the Malvern Spa and receive a treatment for the purpose of this blog post. All views, opinions and images are my own. The Malvern Spa – Location The Malvern Spa is situated in the picturesque town of Malvern in Worcestershire – one of the most beautiful towns in the UK, set at the foot of the rolling Malvern Hills. Where Malvern is concerned, I might be just a little bit biased, but I think you’ll agree, it is rather beautiful.  Arrival The Malvern Spa boasts a large car park with ample…

TomTom Spark Cardio with music and headphones: Review

The TomTom Spark Cardio music fitness watch with bluetooth headphones is a high-tech, high price point sports watch. Due to the price, I have given a good amount of detail regarding the watch in my review to allow people to decide whether this is the right fitness watch for them. TomTom Spark Cardio Music – Aesthetics I’ve had a sports watch before that clocked my distance and speed and gave me a rough idea of calories burned. But this one is on a whole different level. Having seen pictures of the TomTom Spark Cardio online before I got it, I…

Beginner’s guide to ballet: Dancewear Central

Just over two years ago, I took a very nervous little girl to a ballet class for the first time. As a toddler, Libby was very shy. She didn’t really associate with other children and whilst she was a chatterbox at home, she barely said a word when there were other people around. We started going together to little swans ballet class at Ballet Malvern. The class is aimed at pre-school aged children and parents join so that each child has the one to one attention of their parent to help them to follow the teacher’s instructions. Libby loved the…
