Bluestone Wales Review

We were lucky enough to be invited to review the Bluestone Wales holiday destination. We had a four-night mid-week stay free of charge to allow us to do so. Booking activities at Bluestone Wales Once our stay had been booked for us, I received a booking confirmation email from Bluestone Wales. The email contained a link, through which I was able to book additional activities and services. For example, outdoor activities and buggies could be added to our booking at any time. This made it particularly convenient to add activities to our order both before travelling and during our stay. Special offers…

Win a holiday to the Black Forest, Germany!

The Baden-Baden region of Germany has been on my bucket list of destinations to visit since day one. Not only is it seemingly one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, but it is the place that my family originate from, definitely a place I need to visit. Incredibly, I have been lucky enough to be invited to visit the region on a three day whistle-stop tour, courtesy of Fly-Baden – a co-operation of tourist destinations within the Baden-Baden region. And what’s more, you can join me! All you have to do to win a three day round trip to the Black…

Self-catering luxury at Blairmore Farm

Last week we were lucky enough to spend the week at Blairmore Farm, which provides luxury self-catering accommodation in the Perth and Kinross area of Scotland. The purpose of our stay was for me to review Blairmore Farm, but since coming home I’ve been putting off writing my review. Why? Because I have no idea how my words or photographs could possibly do justice to such an amazing place. Booking a stay at Blairmore Farm I was asked to review Blairmore Farm by Embrace Scotland – the premier resource for booking self-catering holidays in Scotland. From that point on, I was in…

Travelling through fear

There is an ingrained societal belief that travelling alone is dangerous. A lone traveller is vulnerable, especially a female. We could get lost, kidnapped, coerced, raped, murdered. The prognosis is grim. So, we don’t travel. We stay at home and follow the expected path. Or we travel with friends, family, boyfriends, husbands or on arranged tours and with groups. As the years pass, the yearning to travel grows. But so does the fear. Fear is a learned response, children are not born fearful of travel, freedom or being alone. Fear breeds in adults. We believe it is common sense to…

The perfect holiday

They awoke a little early on the grey, drizzly June morning. The two days of British summer in late April were a distant memory and it was the perfect time to escape the drudgery of their daily grind. The children emerged bleary eyed from their bedrooms. They knew something was amiss but they had no idea of the adventure that lay ahead. With everybody bundled into the car, they turned the Sat Nav to silent so as not to give the game away and headed for the airport. As they pulled into the car park, they wondered when the children…

An education on the road

Before I had the children, I was always travelling. Every year, I’d go somewhere new. I was never one for package holidays but preferred to go it alone. New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Venezuela and Thailand are just a few of the places I’ve explored. Since having the girls, things have changed completely. I’d love to be one of these parents that just carries on travelling but the truth is, life just hasn’t worked out like that. So instead, we are making the most of the fabulous UK holidays that are available at the moment.  In the future though, things will…

The £10 holiday

I’ve had a bit of a brainwave. I’ve realised that we’re saving up for our holidays all wrong. And that in fact, we could have any holiday we wanted for just £10. So here’s how I’m going to achieve the £10 holiday. Most people put money aside throughout the year to save for their holiday. For us, our main holiday usually involves camping so we don’t have to save a fortune. This year, we are looking forward to heading to Scotland to visit friends and explore the beautiful countryside. But for next year’s holiday (2017) we are taking a different…
