Isn’t it nice to get to a point with work where you’re busy doing things you want to do? I’ve had a bit of downtime this week from my freelance work. I need things from both of my clients before I can move on. Usually, I’d take the time to focus on the blog and social media. But this week, I’ve taken a break from it all. I’ve exercised, been to the theatre to see the Little Mermaid with the girls, and had a couple of nights out. Perfect. Gratitude I’m very aware that the girls are incredibly lucky. They get…

After a couple of difficult weeks, this has been quite a good one. We’ve settled back into the school routine, the sun has been shining and it was my husband’s birthday. This of course means cake, and every good week needs cake. Exploring Herefordshire We live very close to the border between Worcestershire and Herefordshire. And I’m not sure why really, but we never spend a great deal of time in Herefordshire. So at the weekend, we headed that way for a day out. We had an amazing day at Goodrich Castle, then went to Hereford cathedral to see the…

Thursday photo #206 – taking control

For the past few months, I’ve felt a bit like I was drifting along. There was always too much to do and not enough time. And yet, I felt like I should be doing more. Fitness and weight loss After losing Pluto last week, I realised it was time to get back into running. I had tended to walk most days because I didn’t have time to both run with Bubbles and walk Pluto. So, now it’s just me and Bubbles going out each day, there’s no excuse not to run. I’ve entered a triathlon for July so I need…

Thursday photo #205 – the hardest week

There were high hopes for the Easter holidays around here. The weather would improve, we’d go on holiday in the camper van in the sunshine. There would be days out, chilled evenings and walks on the beach with the dogs. But you know what they say about best laid plans. Warwick Castle It seems like a long time ago now that we went to Warwick Castle for the day, but it was only last Thursday. The girls had both been suffering with a cold and Libby was still a bit under the weather that day. But we’d said we’d go…

Thursday photo #204 – Cold and colds

For once, the Easter holidays seem to be going quite slowly here. And I’m pleased to say, that’s because we’re making the most of it. The break started with us piling everything into the camper van and driving to Devil’s Bridge near Aberystwyth. Of course, we set off a few hours late but I’ve never known a time when we didn’t. A short break in the April snow Is it just me that has been totally taken by surprise with this weather? It was particularly shocking when I got up to take Libby to the toilet at about 3am on…

What an incredibly busy week. But all worthwhile because we have finally bought a camper van. Let the adventures commence. Introducing William Shakespeare Back in 2011, my husband and I hired a camper van in New Zealand. We had it for a month and became quite attached to it. So much so that when we came home, we decided to buy one. The only problem was, it was rubbish. Within 12 months, Libby had come along and we needed an extra seat in the camper van. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth spending the money on it, so it ended up being…

This has been the first of a few incredibly busy weeks here. Life does seem to be full of contrasts. For months, I can work exclusively from home and speak to nobody. Then I end up with a month or so of travelling quite a bit around the country and being uncharacteristically sociable. The eye patch It had been noted a couple of times at the eye hospital that Libby’s left eye was weaker than the right. This was corrected by her glasses. Sadly, the last time we went, the sight in her left eye had deteriorated. I think I’d…
