Trespass Kitsy Softshell Jacket: Review

When Trespass asked me to review their Women’s Kitsy Softshell Jacket, I knew the perfect place to put it through it’s paces. During the winter, the British coast is one of my favourite places to be. But living in the Midlands, we don’t get there anywhere near enough. So you can perhaps forgive me for admitting that before my Kitsy arrived, I didn’t really having the right coat for a chilly walk on the beach.

Trespass Kitsy Softshell Jacket: Review

The Trespass Kitsy Softshell Jacket is made of light, flexible fabric with a light fleece lining. The exterior is windproof, waterproof and breathable. The lining is soft, warm and comfortable.

The look of the jacket is fabulous. It is one of the smartest warm jackets I’ve ever seen. This softshell jacket has huge, deep pockets and a hood for extra warmth and protection. It is waterproof in light rain conditions and it looks so good that I’d be equally happy to wear it for walking in the hills or going to the pub.

But back to putting the jacket through it’s paces on the beach. I’ve always been terrible at remembering to bring enough clothing to be warm. So I headed to the beach in just my jeans, a light top and the coat.

Whilst it was beautifully sunny, it certainly wasn’t a warm day. As you can see from the ridiculous state of my hair, it was incredibly windy. With the wind came quite a high chill factor that caused me to bundle the children up in coats and hats.

But as for me in my light top and coat? I was totally toasty! And when my hands got a bit cold, I could dig them into the fabulous, fleece lined, deep pockets to warm them up.

The outer jacket is black, which is offset beautifully by the pink fleece lining. It turns out these are Libby’s two favourite colours at the moment, so she is very impressed.

The hood is grown on (no seams) and adjustable so I was perfectly well protected from the wind with it up. The reason I love the look of it so much is because it is really quite figure-hugging.

It is also long enough to go down to my thighs, keeping me a lot warmer than other waterproof jackets I’ve had in the past.

The verdict

Suffice to say I am converted to the light, thin yet warm and waterproof design of the Kitsy Softshell jacket and will be wearing it for many years to come. At the moment, they are the bargain price of just £39.99 on the Trespass website.
