Today has been another hectic yet fantastic day at Bluestone National Park. We started off the morning with messy play for both children.
Of course, the idea was that they could get messy. All the children got messy, within reason. Only my two took it to this extreme.
The messy play was great, everything was edible and there were a variety of things to do including painting, non-Newtonian fluid (cornflower solution), glittery things, jelly, custard and water.
Libby took it all very seriously, as she tends to do.
Lia also had fun, causing both mess and chaos in her own inimitable fashion.
After messy play, we headed back to the lodge for the girls to have a bath before going to the adventure centre for a quick play before lunch at Wildwood cafe.
After lunch, the girls had a well deserved nap, while I had a little adventure on my own. Still in the throws of my January exercise streak, I headed out for a little run. I thought half an hour or so would probably do it.
I wanted to see if I could find a path from the resort into the woodland of the National Park. First I checked one of the woodland parks in the resort to see if that would take me out of the resort. It didn’t, but my life is notably enriched by the little bits of magic I found there (no, not mushrooms).
From there, I wandered around a bit before finally finding the path out into the National Park. Of course, I couldn’t just leave it at that could I? Any normal person would have a little run along the path and turn back. Not me.
I ran for well over two hours, forgetting how dark it would be on my way back. Missed my turning, ended up by the main road and phoned hubby to tell him I was “running a bit late” before finally dragging my sorry, drenched arse back to the resort in the pitch black, driving rain and freezing cold. Still, it was a lovely run.
I then met hubby and the girls at the adventure centre to head for the swimming pool. On the Bluestone website, there was an “Aqua Adventure” evening advertised from 5 pm to 7pm every Wednesday, which Libby was really looking forward to.
Unfortunately when we got to the pool, we were informed that the Aqua Adventure is now from 4 pm to 6 pm and we were too late, arriving at around 6 pm.
Having walked there, both girls were cold and wet so it was back to the lodge for another bath, dinner and an early night. We have promised them a swim first thing in the morning instead.
All in all a fun day, filled with adventure. Just the way we like it.
