A lifestyle shoot in Rural Herefordshire

Before I launch into this post, I want to give a disclaimer. There is a good chance I will offend you. Sorry.

I often see professional photographs shared on social media or printed on canvas and hanging on the wall. They are usually taken of people’s perfectly groomed children in manufactured poses against a white background.

I hate them.

There, I’ve said it. Much as your children are beautiful and the photographs will be a lovely keepsake, I would much rather see them in their natural state.

So when a local Malvern Photographer asked if the children would like a lifestyle shoot with him, I jumped at the chance.

Scott Stockwell Photography specialise in natural photographs that really capture the moment, rather than just the pose.

The day of our shoot was incredibly hot, so the girls were dressed for comfort rather than style.  Libby’s hair wasn’t behaving itself and Lia’s never does.

And yet, Scott took us to a beautiful rural location and managed to get some incredible photos. They capture the girls as they really are. Enjoying each other’s company in the great outdoors.

Here are a few of my favourites. All images are property of Scott Stockwell Photography.

I hadn’t intended to get involved, but Scott asked if I wanted a photo with the girls and I couldn’t pass up on an opportunity like that. If only I’d thought to put some makeup on.

And this last photo sums up why I love the natural approach. I love how they were so engrossed in what they’re doing they weren’t even aware of the camera.

021LORESIf you live locally, why not treat yourself to a lifestyle shoot with Scott for just £85? He is also available for weddings and other types of photography. This is such a great way to spend a summer evening, Libby enjoyed it so much that she didn’t want to go home. And I think you’ll agree that the photos are fabulous.

Oh my, how completely and utterly gorgeous. What a talented guy and couldn’t agree more; THESE are the types of photos that should be keepsakes in my humble opinion. They are beautiful. Love the shot of you and the girls and glad you got in at least one! xxx

So, so beautiful. And I totally agree about the studio photos shoots, I really do hate them. These are a million times more special.

Love those pictures! I’m completely in agreement about boring studio shots, I really don’t like them, much prefer natural and more realistically posed (or not even posed at all) stuff like this! These are the kind of pictures you will look back on fondly more than some ‘stiff’ white background, same as everyone else photo 😀

Oh and you look lovely with no make-up, you don’t need it! 😉

These are lovely!! I can see why you like the last one! It’s so perfect. Captures them well rather than a genetic pose, which I agree is annoying! Would love an opportunity like this! Very jealous!

what gorgeous photos, i love the one of you and your girls. I love outdoors type photos and i am planning a one at the beach when my son is a bit bigger. I am guilty of the professional photos on white background though but my daughter was covered in cake in the photos and never looks groomed or sits still lol xx

Firstly I’d just like to say that I got a little tiny bit panicked for a moment about having to do a maths question just then!

But mainly I’d like to say that these are gorgeous! I completely agree about the natural look being preferable.

The last one actually made me well up, I love the matching looks of innocent concentration and the closeness of it. Absolutely beautiful.

Haha thank you for your comment Lucy and I’m so sorry about the maths question! They always get me into a bit of a flap too but they’re so good for keeping spammers at bay. We adore the photos, definitely need to get them printed! 🙂
