Having written last week about being more productive, I’ve been a bit rubbish this week. My husband is off work for a week so we’re all in holiday mode. And to be honest, it’s a bit of a relief.

A step back in time

This week has been a bit like stepping back in time, doing things locally that didn’t cost much money or involve technology. After an Easter chocolate hunt on Saturday morning, we spent the rest of the day at a miniature steam railway catching up with family. We’ve visited a few times over the past few years and it’s always a wonderful day out. This time we had perfect weather too. I didn’t see a cloud in the sky all day.

Sunday revolved around swimming. We swim as a family on a Sunday morning, followed by Libby’s swimming lesson. Then in the evening, I played water polo for the first time in a good few years. It was great to get back in the pool and it made me wonder why I ever stopped.

Lia hasn’t been quite herself this week, so we cancelled our plans to visit Warwick Castle. Instead we read Star Wars books, did some drawing, planted out some plants that we’d grown from seed and had a picnic at our favourite park. This is the view from the park, can you see why we love it?

The pantomime

Libby has been going to a stage performance class for a couple of years now. Each Christmas she takes part in their show, and for Easter they did a little pantomime. The older children put on a brilliant show and Libby took part in a dance and played a lizard. It is always lovely to see how confident she is on stage, even if she appears to be doing something rather different from the other dancers!

An exciting delivery

I’m delighted to be working with Vitality on the VitalityMove family friendly fitness festival. I’ll be writing more about that next week. But this morning I had a parcel delivered with a handwritten note from Jessica Ennis-Hill. I’ll be meeting her in a couple of weeks for a training boot camp to get me ready for the event too. If that’s not motivation to work on my fitness, I don’t know what is.

Our Thursday photo #153

This week’s photo was taken after the girls’ Easter chocolate hunt. They were both delighted with their chocolate and had such a lovely time looking for it that we’re going to make it into an annual tradition.
