Thursday Photo #154

The last week has passed in a camping-induced blur. We were only away for a long weekend, but we packed it full of exciting days out and it was a resounding success.

A mini break

We stayed at a Church Farm campsite in a little village called Sixpenny Handley near Salisbury. The campsite was large and not too busy. It had a bar, restaurant, playground and clean facilities. Everything you need for a hassle-free camping trip. If we’d been a bit more organised, we probably would have camped either nearer to the coast or closer to the attractions we were visiting.

We spent a brilliant day on Friday at the Watercress Line day out with Thomas. The girls were in their element, as was my husband. Even the dogs enjoyed it. Sadly the dogs were less welcome at Paultons Park so my husband stayed on the campsite with them while the girls and I went there. It was another brilliant day although Lia was less than impressed by the pirate ship, it was a bit too scary for her.

Sunday was an unexpectedly brilliant day. We toyed with the idea of my husband taking the girls back to Paultons. Another suggestion was the Heavy Horse Centre which I know they would have loved. But when we asked the girls what they would like to do, they wanted to go fossil hunting. By happy coincidence my friend Maz who blogs at Acorn STEM was in the area too. We ended up having an amazing day, both playing in the sand and looking for fossils.

The rest of the week

Coming home from the holiday was a bit of a disappointment as we’d had such a good break. Luckily though, we had more amazing days out planned. Yesterday we headed into Birmingham on the train to meet a friend for a musical picnic at Symphony Hall and lunch at Wagamama. The musical picnic is a free event that takes place regularly. Musicians play instruments and sing songs for young children and parents. This is only the second time we’ve been but the girls love it.

Our Thursday photo #154

It has been lovely seeing the girls together this week. They entertain each other now and they’re really no problem to look after. I’ve taken some lovely photos of them both but this one has to be my favourite. When I shared it on Instagram, somebody asked how Libby had grown the wings. My reply was that all little girls have wings. I can’t wait to see where these two fly to in the future.
