Our Thursday Photo #91

This week has been an ordinary week. Nothing unusual has happened and it has flown by as quickly as ever. But this week, I’ve tried a little bit harder to slow down and appreciate the ordinary moments. The ones I know I will look back on and yearn for in years to come when the girls are adults and don’t need their mum anymore.

Our little moments

  • We have started receiving regular updates via a computer system at the nursery Libby goes to and today, there was a photograph on there of her painting a daffodil. It’s the first time I’ve ever looked at Libby’s painting and thought, “Wow, that’s good!”
  • Every morning, Libby has started to go downstairs and lay the table ready for breakfast. She wasn’t asked to do it but it makes her feel grown up and it’s a big help to me.
  • Both girls have loved the extra time we’ve been spending outside this week and it really seems to have improved their mood. They’ve both been really well behaved and they’ve been getting along fabulously.
  • Lia’s speech has been coming along brilliantly lately, she is speaking in proper sentences although her words aren’t always clear. This week, she started reciting a little poem that Libby had learnt for her nativity play. She doesn’t pronounce it perfectly but she can say the whole thing:
  • “Shh, it’s the middle of the night. Sit very still and curl up very tight. Look at the moon and the stars so bright. Something very special is happening tonight.”

At the weekend, we headed to Croome National Trust to get out in the fresh air. It’s only a short walk from the car park to the park (via the café for some of their amazing cake of course) and there are benches in the park. This meant that my husband could come and join us and the girls could run around and play together.

I’ve taken a little bit less work on this week. I had hoped to manage to finish laying the carpet, but it’s still not done and quite frankly it can wait. Instead, I’m enjoying a bit more time with the girls without being exhausted all the time.

Last night I even got out for a run. The 6 1/2 mile run that I used to do every week felt like a marathon after so much time off, but I’m pleased that I did it and I’m hoping to kick start my exercise regime again.

I’ve even committed to a weight-loss challenge with Stevie from A Cornish Mum and Donna from What the Redhead Said. I’m not sure what I’ve let myself in for, but I’m hoping for some motivation to get back to a more reasonable level of fitness soon.
