Birmingham Gin Festival Review

If there’s two things I love it’s festivals and gin. Not necessarily in that order. So, I felt like a child in a sweetshop when I walked into the Birmingham Gin Festival. The Birmingham Gin Festival – how it works The Gin Festival was held at the Custard Factory in Birmingham. On arrival, we were given a glass each and a pouch to put it in. The glasses also held a little gin explorer book. This tells you about the botanicals in each gin, as well as what mixer and garnish to have with it. This book has become a…

Octonauts Octo Glow Explorers at Sea Life Birmingham

Earlier this week, the girls and I headed to the National Sea Life Centre, Birmingham to check out their Octo-Glow Explorers event. We are delighted to be blogger ambassadors for Sea Life Birmingham this year. We’ll be heading there regularly to review all the latest events. Relaxing at the Sea Life Centre Whenever we head to the National Sea Life Centre, my reviews focus around the children. But I thought it was worth putting together a quick video to show you how relaxing it is for everyone. Interactive sea life I’m a big fan of interactive learning. Libby in particular is always…

A dinner date at Siamais Thai restaurant in Birmingham

On Friday, I headed into Birmingham to have dinner with one of my favourite bloggers, Emma from Life According to Mrs Shilts. We had been invited to review the fabulous Siamais Thai restaurant in Brindley Place. It’s not a restaurant I’d tried before so I was excited to try the food and cocktails. The cocktails We started the evening with a cocktail for me and a mocktail for Emma. I was a bit bamboozled by the cocktail menu, there was so much choice! In the end, I went for a Mojito Royale, which is a mojito topped up with Prosecco…

A flavourful evening at Natural Healthy Foods Birmingham

Last night, my sister and I headed into Birmingham for the media launch of a new vegan eatery in Birmingham. Natural healthy foods already had a shop in Digbeth stocking organic, gluten free, refined sugar free, vegan food. Their new flagship store near the mailbox has a small shop. But the main attraction is the incredible eatery. The Natural healthy foods buffet I have to admit, I love a buffet style restaurant. I like the fact you can try as many or as few things as you like and eat as much as you want. The only problem I find as a…

When I was compiling my post about family friendly days out in the West Midlands, it inspired me to try some during half term. The Black Country Living Museum was somewhere I’d been with my husband pre-children but I hadn’t taken the girls. So we headed there for a day out, and it was brilliant. But as with anywhere, there are certain things you need to know to make the most of your visit. So here are my top tips. 1. Book online Well I’d love to say that this was what I did. But sadly, I’m not that organised. All…

Cucina Rustica Birmingham Review

Today I headed into Birmingham for lunch at Cucina Rustica Italian restaurant. Cucina Rustica is based in the Jewellery Quarter, which is about a 10 minute walk from New Street train station and Grand Central shopping centre. They serve authentic Italian food in a relaxed, bar-like atmosphere. Their cocktails are pretty good too! Cucina Rustica Starters When we arrived, we were given a copy of the large Cucina Rustica menu and their smaller specials menu. We were also treated to a basket of bread and olives whilst we browsed the menus. I went for the Funghi con Panna starter, which…

Christmas shopping at Grand Central Birmingham

Last week, I headed into Birmingham for the day with Lia to take her to the Sea Life Centre to meet Santa. While we were there, I thought I’d take the opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done in the fabulous Grand Central shopping centre. They even provided me with a convenient gift card that is valid in all their shops to help me out. The convenient place to shop Despite being about an hour away on the train, Grand Central is my first choice for Christmas shopping. It’s festively decorated and it’s so convenient having such a huge number of shops,…
