18 things for 2018

Blogging has taken a bit of a back seat over Christmas. The girls are off school for the best part of a month and I’ve had loads of work to do. So, I thought I’d mark the start of the New Year with a post about the 18 things I want from 2018. It’s sometimes helpful to write things down to gain a bit of perspective. Hopefully I’ll look back at this in the Summer and feel like I’m getting on okay. 1. Rest Every Christmas, I work up to the wire. I generally manage to enjoy Christmas day with…

10 cheap outdoor activities to get children interested in sport

I read an article only the other day about the fact that children are starting to do insufficient exercise from the age of just 7 years old. I found this surprising because when I was a child, I’m pretty sure this was the age when children started to get really into a particular sport. How will we ever encourage the olympians of the future if they’ve already grown out of sport by such a young age? Here are 10 ways to get outside and encourage a love of sport. Life is short, live harder

Every now and then, life throws you a curve ball. A timely reminder that life is short, life is precious and we need to make the most of every single moment. Since having children, I’ve been finding it really difficult to get any time for me. Time to do the things I enjoy; keep fit, go travelling and even go out with friends. Friday Feature #8

Anyone who has started up a new business will understand how difficult it is to get things going on a budget. Sadly, this can often mean cutting corners in terms of both quality and ethics.  That’s why I was honoured to be asked to feature a brand new company who only use eco-friendly, pure and natural ingredients.  If you use scented candles or oil burners or are looking for something for mother’s day (like me!) then this is for you.  Tarts With a Heart make handmade, eco friendly soy wax melts. You use them like oils in an oil burner, placing…

Friday Feature #6

This week’s Friday feature is all about a company called Aduna, who are aiming to use the health and beauty market to benefit the communities that produce their products.  The word “superfood” has integrated itself into our vocabulary recently enough to mean that the spell check on my computer doesn’t recognise it.  And yet, it now an everyday term. Most of us eat superfoods as part of a balanced diet, making the most of their superior qualities to enhance our health and wellbeing.  But do we stop and think about where they come from? I’ve never really put that much thought into…

The highs and lows of working from home

This morning was Libby’s nursery morning. She just goes once a week because we are lucky enough to have one of the best nurseries in the country nearby so we decided to make the most of it. She goes horse riding, paints and does crafts and other exciting things and Lia gets a bit of attention from me.  I got some work done while Lia had a nap, then when she got up we made the most of the sunshine and headed to the Malvern  hills with Pluto for a walk.  Being on the hills in the sunshine made me…
