Learning to swim with Rebecca Adlington and Baby Annabell

I watched my little girl sitting nervously on the poolside of her first swimming lesson. Her sister was by her side as always. They kicked their legs on the side of the pool and before I knew it, they were all getting in. She looked around for reassurance before following her sister into the water. And what could be more reassuring than Rebecca Adlington coming over to help her? Building water confidence We’ve been swimming regularly with our girls since they were just a few weeks old. But that doesn’t stop Lia from being a bit nervous. She loves to…

A new era for chlorine resistant swimwear

When I look back at my childhood, most of my memories involve swimming. That was my sport. Training sessions took place once or twice a day everyday. Before school, after school and at the weekends. Hours and hours of swimming up and down the pool. Racing, representing the club or the county. Up and down, up and down. And the number of swimming costumes I used to get through doesn’t even bear thinking about. When history repeats itself A few weeks ago, I filled in a form on my old swimming club’s website. They take children from five years old…

Get ready for a summer of swimming with Konfidence

So many of my favourite memories from last summer involve being around water. From the paddling pool on the decking to building sandcastles on a beach to swimming in a lake. And on every occasion, Konfidence products have been there to keep the girls safe. So it’s a real privilege to be working with Konfidence even more this year as official Konfidence swimologists. About Konfidence Konfidence is a family business that makes a vast range of children’s swimming products. On a family holiday in 1996, Andy and Caroline realised that buoyancy aids were too heavy for children. They needed a solution…

Thursday Photo #140

The past week has been about getting back into a routine. Libby is tired from the new school term and they’ve both started back at some after school clubs as well. The Swimming Lessons On Saturday we spent the day on a staycation challenge. It was lovely to have a day out all together without venturing far from home. We had lunch and went to see the pantomime at our local theatre. We go every year and it’s great to watch something that we all enjoy – there really is something to keep everyone amused at a pantomime. Sunday was…

Zoocchini hooded towels: review

Both of my children have been swimming since they were tiny, building water confidence is really important to us, so we try to swim every week. This has been really successful and it’s one of the activities we all enjoy doing as a family. The only rubbish thing about swimming is getting changed afterwards. When the girls were tiny, it was easy to just wrap them straight up in a hooded baby towel and get them warm. As they’ve got older though, it is one of the few things that has got more difficult. The girls just don’t seem to be…

10 ways to build children’s water confidence

Swimming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I swam competitively for our local club. The training regime was brutal, we’d often be in the water by 6.30 am to fit in an hour and a half before school, as well as swimming again in the evenings and at weekends. But these days, swimming is more about the children than me. I get in once or twice a month on my own, but I insist that the children are in the water with us regularly. I’m not a swimming coach or…
