With Father’s Day just around the corner, I know that there will be people all over the country who find themselves in the same position as me. Trying to find the perfect gift to buy the dad who has everything and wants nothing.
My husband’s birthday was last month and you may have read about the birthday present fiasco, which basically left me without a clue what to buy for him. Not only did my husband fail to come up with any ideas or drop any hints as to what he wanted, just before his birthday he also went out and bought himself the one thing I did know he wanted.
So, I was left with no choice but to allow Libby to choose a plethora of things he didn’t want or need, including a crossword book and a David Bowie colouring book. Luckily, Love2Read were there to save the day with the one gift he really loved – and it’s something I know any dad would appreciate for Father’s Day too.
We made one of the special Our Dad books, designed especially for families with more than one child. We have made Love2Read books at Christmas before and I’ve mentioned that we love them as a way to look back on our year. But I really liked the idea of a book for Dad.
My husband doesn’t appear in photographs on my blog due to the nature of his work. As a result, it is often the case that when we’re on days out, he is the one taking the photos. This has meant that we don’t have that many photos of him and the girls – and less still of us all as a family. This is something I intend to change, and the Love2Read book seemed like a great start.
You choose nine photos in total for the book, and the photos you choose for the first four pages also make up the front cover. Each page has the words “Our dad”, and you choose the words to complete the sentence. All nine photos appear on one page at the back of the book, and there is also a word cloud with simple words that children can read.
I have always been a fan of photo books, but I take so many random snaps that I find it really difficult to sort through them and choose the best ones to print. For some reason, I find it easier when I only have to choose nine, and I like the fact that Love2Read books are educationally beneficial as well as being great for capturing happy memories.
