Treasure in the post

Libby and I have reviewed a few Zoe and Beans books in the past and we are always delighted to received our books to review. Today though, receiving a Zoe and Beans book in the post was more exciting than ever.

The latest Zoe and Beans Book by Chloe Inkpen and Mick Inkpen is called Zoe and Beans Pirate Treasure! To our delight, when we got home from our walk this morning, the book had arrived, along with some of our very own hidden treasure!

In the book Zoe, Beans and Oscar have an adventure on the beach. Right at the beginning, Oscar’s baby sister finds some treasure. In our house, the existence of a baby sister in the book was exciting enough to ensure that Libby wanted her own baby sister to share in her fun.

The characters go on a little adventure around the beach, looking in a rock pool, in a cave and on a little island for the treasure. After a few false alarms, it’s Beans who finally sniffs out the treasure… just the same treasure as our own little surprise that came with the book. Can you guess what it was?

We have always loved the Zoe and Beans books. The characters are really endearing and exceptionally well illustrated. Their little adventures are really exciting for young children and they are just the right length to hold Libby’s attention. I particularly love this book because it is very descriptive, not only about their adventure but also about the seaside. I love the fact the book is set outside, encouraging children to get outside for an adventure themselves. It may be just a coincidence, but after we had read the book, Libby insisted on playing outside for the rest of the afternoon and we even ate our dinner out in the garden.

Zoe and Beans are also on Facebook! You can get some nice previews of the upcoming books from there so you can pop them on your wish list!
