A well timed price cut!

As I am currently on maternity leave, finances are somewhat tight at the moment. We usually do our monthly shop online and spend around £200. We also nip to the shop as and when we need fresh fruit and veg. This month though, Morrisons have cut all of their prices and I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to be one of the #MorrisonsMums, receiving £80 worth of vouchers to buy our meals for the weekend. More information about the price cuts can be found here: www.morrisons.com/pricecuts For us, particularly with the new pricing, £80 goes an awful…

Raising a Little Foodie

When I was at school, cookery lessons were rubbish. We learnt very little about health and nutrition and generally actually cooked about once a term. As you can imagine, I dropped the subject as soon as I could and didn’t take it for GCSE.  Fast forward ten years when my younger sister was in school, and things were completely different. All of my sisters learnt about the benefits of healthy eating and became very accomplished bakers during their school years. Unfortunately, it seems that cookery in schools has regressed somewhat and is no longer a priority.  That’s why I was…

A New Drink Experience

A few days ago we were watching TV when an advert came on for Robinson’s Squash’d. My husband and I discussed what a great idea we thought it was and how we’d liked to try it. In a strange twist of fate, I was then offered the opportunity to review the product. Robinson’s Squash’d is a very concentrated squash in a tiny bottle. Because it is so concentrated, you only need to squeeze the bottle gently into a glass of water to make an excellent tasting drink of squash.  Personally, I don’t drink a lot of squash because I’m happy enough…

Unusual gift ideas

I’ve always been a fan of imaginative gifts, often turning to websites such as this one. I have also recently got really into the idea of making gifts myself or buying them from charity shops. This is partly for financial reasons but also because I genuinely think people do appreciate it. My sister Emma writes an amazing blog about charity shopping and my friend Claire is fabulous at giving interesting gifts. I’m so proud that she wrote a blog post about a gift I gave to her- a bottle of elderflower champagne.  You may notice from Claire’s blog post though, that whilst the…

Food, Glorious Food

Libby has always enjoyed food. She eats anything that we give her, even if it’s spicy, strongly flavoured or otherwise unusual. She has always eaten what we eat and we never really gave her jars of baby food. Generally, it’s really convenient that she eats the same as us. We all eat together and I just cook one big meal that will sometimes last us a couple of days. Occasionally though, we might get home late and not have time to cook a proper meal, or my husband and I might be eating later because one of us is doing sport…
