Friday Feature #3

I am really starting to love writing these Friday features, it is heartening to discover that there are some fabulous ethical, generous businesses out there that are doing their bit for charities and communities. This week, I am proud to be featuring a business that is really close to my heart in terms of the charity it supports. So without further ado, allow me to introduce… Artisan Designs UK Gaynor initially set up her fabulous bespoke handcrafted jewellery company in order to produce hand crafted, unique pieces at a price that more people could afford. In fact, she makes limited…

Our Thursday Photo #31

Well what do you know. Hubby thinks that my last post wasn’t entirely factual (it was). He seems to take offence at me producing something mildly amusing at the expense of cold hard facts (knob). So to satisfy hubby, here is an accurate account of our week since my last Thursday Photo post.  Friday: Nursery, eat, sleep, eat, sleep.  Saturday: Soft play, eat, sleep, eat, sleep. Sunday: Swimming (just me), swimming (everyone), eat, sleep eat, sleep.  Monday: Singing group, eat, sleep. Drama group, eat, sleep. Run (just me).  Tuesday: Drop Libby at her nan’s. Eat, sleep, eat, sleep.  Wednesday: Ballet, eat, sleep, eat,…

What my husband says and what I think he means…

So, I know there can be some misunderstandings and errors in communication in most marriages, but I think I pretty much know what my husband means most of the time. Men, I’m looking for marks out of ten please. Ladies, let me know your thoughts!  1. He says: I’ve bought you some chocolates He means: I’m having an affair 2. He says: You should go out with your friends He means: Loser 3. He says: I bought you flowers He means: I think you should go and have a look outside, I’ve got a horrible feeling hell might have frozen over 4. He says: I look forward…

An unusual gift for book lovers

Libby can very categorically be described as a book lover. We read a book with her every bedtime, but she always insists on an additional opportunity to read during the day and, my pet hate, she loves to take a book in the car. Given half a chance, she would also take a book with her when we go on the train, to ballet, to drama group, to the animal park… you get the general idea. But it drives me mad how they get all dog-eared. They end up on the floor of the car and get trodden on. This…

Working from home – where do I start?

I recently wrote a blog post about the advantages and disadvantages of working from home. I know it’s something that a lot of people would love to do but perhaps they just don’t know where to start. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, so here are my five top tips. Just a disclaimer before you start reading – I didn’t include in my last post the fact that sometimes your own children can be really, really annoying if you’re stuck with them all day. Please bear this in mind before you make any rash decisions! 1.…

A toddler masters Soft Play

Today, we were lucky enough to be invited to the new Dennis the Menace themed play zone at the Guild Brewers Fayre in Bromsgrove. Libby hasn’t had that much experience at soft play, I think realistically she has only recently become big enough to venture out of the toddler area. She soon made up for that though. There was a huge whirly slide (technical term). She insisted on repeatedly climbing all the way to the top all by herself, completely unperturbed by all the much bigger children who were playing in there. Lia of course remained in the toddler area,…

Friday Feature #2

Today’s Friday Feature is about a fabulous business that is leading the way when it comes to ethical purchasing, particularly in the fashion and beauty world. I also want to raise awareness of an incredible animal charity that really, really needs our support at this time of year. TIFF (UK) In recent years, I haven’t bothered too much with fashion and beauty. The reasons for this are twofold. Firstly, I work from home and rarely go out in the evenings, so I really don’t need to waste money on making myself beautiful (or at least vaguely presentable) just to stay…
