Can I really choose a school for my child?

When we decided to start a family, my husband and I were living in his flat. We loved it there, it was a great area and convenient for nights out and for commuting to work. It would also have been fine to stay there when the girls came along. Fine, but not perfect. There wasn’t that much space and there were only two bedrooms. There was no garden and we had no family in the village. So we knew it was sensible to move, and the perfect home was staring us in the face – because I’d already owned it…

Thursday Photo #83

I’ve sat down to write this post about what we’ve all been up to over the past week and I genuinely have no idea. I grabbed my bottle…

Simple Christmas survival cake recipe

Christmas is a time for giving and receiving, a time for remembering those less fortunate than you and spending time with your nearest and dearest. Meanwhile back in the real world, we’re rapidly approaching the time of year where we eat too much, overdose on sherry, argue with the in-laws and count down the god-forsaken minutes until we can go back to work. This simple Christmas survival cake recipe won’t change anything, but it tastes good and there’s enough brandy in it to make sure you’re half-soaked until New Year’s day. Ingredients To soak in advance:  3 x 500g bags of…
