I love going on days out with the girls, but in the Winter it can be a nightmare. You see if we go for a brilliant indoor day out somewhere like the National Sea Life Centre, it means taking coats. As soon as we get indoors the coats come off and I end up carrying them. So when I was offered the chance to review the Wunderlife Brug – a large bag that will fit in my handbag, I jumped at the chance.
What makes the Brug different?
There are lots of reusable bags around that pack down, but none are as large as the Brug. So for Winter, it’s perfect to throw into my handbag and when the coats come off, I only have one thing to carry. But because it’s a rug as well as a bag, it’s perfect for outdoors too. So when it rains, we can throw it over a bench and sit down. Did I mention it’s waterproof?
How it works
To turn the Brug from a rug into a bag, you just tighten two elastic straps and hook the two ends together. You can see the size of the Brug from this photo. I’d tightened up the elastic to the edges of the cushion. Bubbles could still sit comfortably on the cushion and she’s a medium sized dog.
In this photo, I’d hooked the bag up and put the elastic inside with the cushion. The next step is just to zip the bag up as you would with any normal bag. To open it up again you just unzip, unhook and loosen the elastic. And you’re back to a rug.
The Brug at home
Whilst I thought the Brug would be brilliant for days out, it has been really useful at home too. Because it is machine washable, it’s the perfect thing to keep the floor clean if the girls want to do something messy. When they were painting, I was happy to chuck the Brug on the floor and let them get on with it.
Even when there was a spillage, it didn’t matter because the Brug is waterproof. This means that the water didn’t reach the floor, and I could either wipe it off or just chuck the Brug into the washing machine.
For the summer
For all its uses in Winter, the Brug will see even more use here in summer. Because it’s just perfect for picnics. So far this year it’s been a bit chilly for eating outside, we’ve been wanting to get indoors by lunchtime to warm up. But by spring, we’ll be off for a picnic.
And instead of lugging a picnic blanket around, I’ll put our picnic things inside the Brug. When we arrive we can unzip it and sit on it for a picnic. Bubbles wasn’t supposed to be in this photo, she didn’t even have the decency to smile. Thank goodness the Brug washes easily.
