Unexpected flying toast

You know those beautiful blog posts you read about how much of a blessing young children are and how people are doing the best for their bright, well behaved children?  This isn’t one of them. This is about real life.  This is about the minor things that go wrong every single day that make bringing up children a bit like swimming through treacle.  There are the normal things that you expect. Getting ready to go out, thinking for once that you’re going to be on time to a baby group. Then one dirty nappy, and a toddler needing the toilet…

Enjoying a rainy Sunday

Weekends tend to be a time for days out as a family. They usually include a walk with Pluto and we like to be outdoors. Today though, the weather was looking dreadful so in contrast to our usual weekends, we headed into town.  Both girls had a nice lazy morning listening to some music before we went anywhere. Lia in particular was thrilled by her first experience of listening to music on headphones.  The next exciting thing was a ride on the train. Libby has always been a huge fan of trains and she’s getting Lia in on the excitement…

Pre-school half term

Odd though it may seem, I never really realised that half term was a thing before children went to school. But pre-school half term is definitely a thing, we checked.  We have our little routines each day. We are busy every morning with activities we’ve been doing since Libby was tiny. Our Thursday Photo #41

This week has been mainly about Libby, just the way she likes it. We’ve been to the eye hospital with her twice and they have realised that her sight isn’t too good and given her a prescription for some glasses.  We’re off to choose the glasses on Saturday and I’m hoping it will make a huge difference to her. I had no idea she had sight problems and the pictures she couldn’t see in the initial tests were still really quite large and it surprised me a little bit.  It sounds like her sight could get better or worse as…

Friday Feature #7

Today’s Friday Feature spotlight is on a fabulous Social Enterprise that gives ALL of its profits to charity.  I make no secret of the fact that I’m not a huge fan of fashion. Unfortunately for them, this extends to my children. I can’t remember the last time I bought baby clothes. Lia has pretty much had to put up with Libby’s second hand clothes. Many of these were already second hand by the time Libby got them.  This isn’t because I’m a terrible parent who neglects my children (I am). But because I object to spending extortionate amounts of money…
