Cucina Rustica Birmingham Review

Today I headed into Birmingham for lunch at Cucina Rustica Italian restaurant. Cucina Rustica is based in the Jewellery Quarter, which is about a 10 minute walk from New Street train station and Grand Central shopping centre. They serve authentic Italian food in a relaxed, bar-like atmosphere. Their cocktails are pretty good too! Cucina Rustica Starters When we arrived, we were given a copy of the large Cucina Rustica menu and their smaller specials menu. We were also treated to a basket of bread and olives whilst we browsed the menus. I went for the Funghi con Panna starter, which…

Win Brunch with Pom Wonderful

Yesterday was one of the best mornings I’ve had in a long time. As usual I was woken up unnecessarily early. Instead of attempting to snooze with two children bouncing on my head and CBeebies blaring in my ear, I got up and went for a run. It was a beautiful day and the views were quite spectacular. After my run, top chef Paul Fielding from La Belle Assiette popped over to cook us brunch. Chi Kitchen Birmingham – Review

On Saturday, I was lucky enough to be invited to review Chi Kitchen in Birmingham. This is a very upmarket Chinese restaurant situated on the third floor of Debenhams in the Bullring. They also have a Grab & Go counter on the ground floor of the same shop. However it is somewhere I am incredibly glad to have discovered and I would definitely go again. When we arrived, we were welcomed by the staff and…

Over the past few months, my weight has been bothering me a bit. A few times, I’ve decided it was time to go on a diet, but something always gets in the way. A birthday, a meal with friends or just a nice bottle of cider on a Friday night. And that’s why I’m not going on a diet. I know lots of people do fabulously well with meal replacement or low calorie diets, but they’re really not for me. So, I tried to eat a bit more sensibly – I decided I needed a lifestyle change rather than a…

Why I won’t #RethinkToddlerPortionSizes

A few weeks ago, I noticed that mumsnet were looking for bloggers to take part in a campaign about toddler portion sizes. It involved the not-so-catchy hashtag #ReThinkToddlerPortionSizes, and was done in conjunction with the Infant and Toddler Forum. I thought it was an interesting concept, but decided not to apply to take part because I don’t want to make food into an issue for my girls. The campaign Fast forward a few weeks, and I started to read blog posts about the #ReThinkToddlerPortionSizes campaign, including this from one of my favourite bloggers, Donna from What the Redhead Said. On first…
