Eating like a Brit abroad

When I go on holiday, it’s all about the food. I know, it shouldn’t be. It should be about spending time with my family and relaxing… is it really possible to do both when you have children?? Back in the days before children, I went to some wonderful places and ate some brilliant food but as a vegetarian, it can be difficult. Take our mishap in Rome for example. I adore Italian food, particularly pizza. So all those years ago when my husband proposed (he passed me a note in the Sistine Chapel) we decided to celebrate with a pizza…

Good food on a time budget

I quite enjoy cooking. I wouldn’t say I’m a culinary genius, but I like to cook something nice every now and then.  This is one of my favourite times of year for cooking because there is wild garlic growing everywhere. An Easter soft play treat

It’s rather odd I think, as a parent to two pre-school age children, that I always wonder what we’re going to do with ourselves during the Easter holidays.  During term time, it’s so easy to know what to do with the girls. Friday traditions

Fridays are odd days here because Libby usually spends the morning in nursery. Lia and I don’t have anything in particular that we do on a Friday, so we’ve developed our own little Friday traditions. Lia always has a morning nap and I take the opportunity for a quiet cup of coffee. Then we always take Pluto for a walk, pick Libby up at midday and we all head over to my dad’s for lunch.  Today, Libby didn’t have nursery because of half term, so she joined us on our dog walk. This means that we can’t go quite so…

Friday Feature #6

This week’s Friday feature is all about a company called Aduna, who are aiming to use the health and beauty market to benefit the communities that produce their products.  The word “superfood” has integrated itself into our vocabulary recently enough to mean that the spell check on my computer doesn’t recognise it.  And yet, it now an everyday term. Most of us eat superfoods as part of a balanced diet, making the most of their superior qualities to enhance our health and wellbeing.  But do we stop and think about where they come from? I’ve never really put that much thought into…
