Pirates and Mermaids at the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham

Sea Life centres across the UK are asking visitors to pick a side this summer. Will you help the mermaids or the pirates to hunt down hidden treasure? We headed to the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham yesterday to check out the event. True to form, my two chose opposing sides. They went the extra mile and dressed up as their chosen characters too. Pirates and Mermaids We’ve been regular visitors to the National Sea Life Centre for seven years now. Sea Life Centres are one of the few places that are just as good for babies as anyone…

A visit to the Antarctic North Pole at Sea Life Birmingham

It’s a bit of a contradiction isn’t it, the Antarctic North Pole? But head to the National Sea Life Centre this week and you’ll find Santa in his North Pole Grotto. But wait, are those penguins? Everyone knows there are no penguins in the North Pole! That’s why the Santa experience at the National Sea Life Centre is so unique. Where else can you have a meet and greet with Santa with a backdrop of Gentoo penguins? A Christmas family tradition We really are regular visitors at the National Sea Life Centre, and their Christmas event is a bit of…

National Sea Life Centre a review & events

Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to be chosen as blogger ambassadors for the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. Following that, we were invited to attend on Saturday to experience the Mister Maker event and be among the first people to watch their new film, Octonauts: Amazon Adventure 4D. As always, the girls were so excited to be going to the Sea Life Centre. Libby was particularly excited because Mr Maker and the Octonauts are two of her favourite television programmes. Lia isn’t quite old enough to be as engrossed in television as Libby, but she is always…

A day out in Birmingham

This morning, we all headed off early for a day out in Birmingham. Working there made me realise what a great city it is. There’s always something going on and children are particularly spoilt. Our first stop after getting off the train today was the Town Hall to see the AMAZING Three Little Pigs musical. This was a bit of a shock to me. I knew the girls would enjoy it, but I had no idea that it would be enjoyable for the grown ups too. The music is catchy, actors are engaging and it’s only 55 minutes long so it…

Win a family pass to a deep sea world

A little while ago, we were lucky enough to be chosen as ambassadors for the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. We had a fabulous guided tour just a few weeks ago when Lia fell in love with the penguins in her own inimitable manner. They also had the fabulous Lego attraction there, which was great for little ones. They had the opportunity to follow a lego treasure hunt, with giant lego pieces hidden in some of the tanks. They can even build a lego sea creature. At the end, they receive an activity pack with stickers and a fun scuba mask.…

Quacking at the penguins

This morning, we were lucky enough to be invited to the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham to collect our annual passes that we won after our last trip there.  First stop was the penguins. Here, I spent a considerable amount of time arguing with Lia. It may sound a little bit odd arguing with someone who can only say a few words.  But sometimes, I can’t help getting sucked in. The argument went a little bit like this:  Me: Look Lia, penguins.  Lia: Duck, duck! Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack.  Me: No Lia, it’s a penguin, not a duck.  Lia:…

Sea Life Centre Birmingham Sea Stars

Today has been a fabulous day. We were lucky enough to be invited to see the new Sea Stars exhibit at the National Sea Life Centre, Birmingham.  We are regulars at the Sea Life Centre, it’s one of those things that is perfect for both girls at their current ages. I remember Libby loving the Sea Life Centre at Lia’s age, seeing the exciting coloured fish, the movement, the huge turtle, the jellyfish, the sharks and the rays. And Lia is exactly the same.  And yet, as Libby has got older and we have continued to go regularly, there are…
