With the announcement about lockdown coming to an end, it seems strange to be finally making plans again. Not a lot will change for us really, but the girls can’t wait to get back into the swimming pool. Christmas of course causes another dilemma, but thankfully I think for us it will be easily resolved. My mum is in our bubble anyway and we usually see her on Christmas day and boxing day. So, we’ll stick to the usual plan. It will be a shame that we can’t see other relatives we usually visit, but it’s only for one year.…

Had you noticed that it was the 100th day of lockdown this week? I hadn’t realised until I read it on social media. I don’t think I would have coped if someone had told me the schools would remain closed for so long. The thought of such a long stretch of life being so different would have been too much. School holidays are a funny thing in this strange limbo we are in at the moment. We all look forward to the extra downtime with the girls not having to battle through their schoolwork. Then the holidays arrive and they feel somewhat odd. We haven’t been joining the hoards on days out to the beach or anywhere else far from home. Back to school Lia is in year 1, one of the first cohorts…

With lockdown starting to ease slightly, things feel a little different to last week. The general mood on social media seems to be one of nervousness. People fall into two camps, those who are petrified of the virus spreading further and those who are glad to be able to do a little more than last week. For me, the return to open water swimming couldn’t come soon enough. That said, I’m sticking to quiet times and places and as a family, we won’t be going anywhere that is likely to be busy. I’m waiting to see how this weekend plays…

For the first time in a long time, there’s a half term approaching and we don’t have any plans. My husband has used all his leave so we won’t be going away for the week. We may manage a few days but for the majority of the time, we’ll be staying local. Writing about what’s happening in the West Midlands this half term has made me realise that staying local will be just as fun as going away. I also feel that a few quiet days will be just what we need. Hidcote Gardens We’ve had a National Trust membership…
