School holidays are a funny thing in this strange limbo we are in at the moment. We all look forward to the extra downtime with the girls not having to battle through their schoolwork. Then the holidays arrive and they feel somewhat odd. We haven’t been joining the hoards on days out to the beach or anywhere else far from home. We’ve been out walking or cycling every day but otherwise, life continues as normal but without the school work. Until next week, when everything changes again. Back to school Lia is in year 1, one of the first cohorts…

With lockdown starting to ease slightly, things feel a little different to last week. The general mood on social media seems to be one of nervousness. People fall into two camps, those who are petrified of the virus spreading further and those who are glad to be able to do a little more than last week. By the middle of last week, it felt like the children had been off school for ages. We packed so much in that we were all exhausted. I started wondering whether we were doing too much. Then in a flash, the children were back to school again. We fell back into our usual routine, spending only a few hours together each day. And I realised that making the most of every moment of half term was exactly the right thing to do. Gratitude At the end of a busy week like last week, it’s good to sit back and appreciate…

It’s that time of year when something always seems to be happening. Birthdays, days out, sports days or exams. During the past seven days, Libby has had a singing exam, concert, birthday party and sports day. It’s a good thing she enjoys being busy. We had a visitor this week too. I was looking out into the nature reserve behind our house when I spotted that I was being watched. Singing Libby has been going to a stage performance class since she was two years old. At the time, she was horrendously shy with anybody outside our immediate family. I…
