A Relax Spa Day at The Malvern

The persistent hammering on the door started at around 4.35am. Assuming the dog needed to go out, I reluctantly rolled over and followed her downstairs. Opening the door to a howling gale, my gaze was drawn to the wildly flapping back gate. The fence post had become detached from the wall and our garden had become a security disaster. After such a terrible start, only total relaxation could rescue my day. The Malvern Spa The Malvern Spa is based on the outskirts of Malvern, at the foot of the beautiful Malvern Hills. It boasts luxurious accommodation, a state of the…

A day out for children at Kingfisher Shopping Centre

We whizzed around on the bumper cars, laughing at each other getting stuck. I couldn’t believe we were in a shopping centre. Not the sort of place I’d naturally go for a day out with young children. Let’s face it, shopping really is no fun for them. So, when I was asked to review the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch with the children, I was surprised. To adults, the inside of a shopping centre is bright, vibrant and full of opportunities. To children, I imagine it looks like this. Rather dull. The game changer – 360 Play Well, I can…

A morning stroll around the Walled Gardens at Croome Court

The girls leant their bikes against the wall and ventured into the secret garden. It was like stepping into the Georgian era. Being transported back to a time when the produce from this expansive garden would feed everyone on the Croome Estate. The history of the Walled Gardens at Croome Court 17 years ago, a couple by the name of Chris and Karen were looking for a project. The gardener’s cottage at Croome was perfect. Derelict and set in a vast plot of land, the property inspired visions of a transformation into an eight-bedroomed house. There would be a swimming pool, jacuzzi and tennis courts.…

The Staycation Challenge

This is a collaborative post. Finance company The Scottish Friendly recently compiled a Disposable Income Index. The information was taken from an independent survey revealing how much money people have left after paying essential bills. As well as finding out whether people had money to spend or save, the survey looked at people’s holiday habits. They found that 19% of people were opting for more staycations, whilst 16% were looking for cheaper holidays. The Staycation Challenge Scottish Friendly wanted to show me how easy it is to save money each month, by discovering affordable days out in my local town. So…

Thursday Photo #116

This past week has mostly revolved around changing my lifestyle to fit in more running. I knew I’d never manage to find the time in the daytime or the evenings, so most of my runs have had to take place first thing in the morning. So much to Bubbles’ delight, I’ve been up just after 6 am every morning and off out for a run. Whilst I’m not yet up to the sort of distances that I intend to get to, I’ve already run 25 miles since Sunday. Today and tomorrow I’ll be cycling and swimming instead of running, I think…

Woods Alive

Most weekends we try to get out and about at least one of the days. After a hideous day of rain yesterday, this morning was looking a bit more promising.  Breakfast was rather a relaxed affair with poached eggs on toast and chocolate croissants on the menu. Lia is able to feed herself now, but she hasn’t quite got the hang of doing it without any mess.  So after a rather urgent clean up and clothing change, we headed to the Worcester Woods Country Park. Today, they had woodland crafts and working shire horses in the woods for their Woods…

Enjoying a rainy Sunday

Weekends tend to be a time for days out as a family. They usually include a walk with Pluto and we like to be outdoors. Today though, the weather was looking dreadful so in contrast to our usual weekends, we headed into town.  Both girls had a nice lazy morning listening to some music before we went anywhere. Lia in particular was thrilled by her first experience of listening to music on headphones.  The next exciting thing was a ride on the train. Libby has always been a huge fan of trains and she’s getting Lia in on the excitement…
