This morning, for the first time since having Lia last May, I had three whole hours to myself when I wasn’t working. As you can imagine, I used my time wisely, enjoying a spa at the Bluestone National Park resort in Pembrokeshire.
On arrival, I had a short consultation before being given a luxurious robe, towel and slippers and being shown to the changing rooms to get into my swimming costume to use the spa facilities.
The changing rooms were so luxurious I had to take a quick photo. I spent an incredibly relaxing two hours in the two steam rooms, two saunas, ice room, salt room and the outdoor Jacuzzi. There is also a cafe there that serves food from midday.
The facilities were all immaculate and there were only a few of us in there so it was like having the place to yourself. I felt thoroughly spoilt and was actually disappointed when it was time to go for my massage.
My disappointment soon dissipated when I had an aromatherapy massage that completely got rid of all the nasty knots in my shoulders and neck.
Whilst I was there, Libby and Lia were enjoying the adventure centre, particularly loving the bouncy castle and the ball pool. I love how well they are getting on together these days.
We really crammed in our activities today, heading back to our lodge for a spot of lunch before going swimming. Both girls adored the swimming pool, in particular the lazy river, the little beach area with a slide and the waves.
For older children (and adults, we’re having a go next time) there are some great flumes that also go outside. There is also a little fish shack cafe, complete with vegetarian options. Tomorrow we intend to go to the aqua adventures hour, when there will be inflatable slides in the pool.
After the kids had taken a well earned nap and hubby and I had been for a run, we headed out for dinner in the Knight’s Tavern. This had a great menu with veggie options for me, fish and chips for the girls and good pub food for us all.
We all really enjoyed our food, being pleasantly surprised at the quality of it, much better than you would usually expect from pub grub.
For me, the highlight was my bottle of Crabbies and my chocolate pot with raspberries and brandy snaps for dessert. Bliss.
After dinner, Libby couldn’t believe her luck that there was live music, a double act singing and playing the guitar. She dragged several of us up for a dance before we headed back to the lodge for a good night’s sleep ready to do it all again tomorrow.
