Taking the stress out of travel with Holiday Extras

A couple of months ago, I was invited to do a spot of yoga at Airparks Birmingham with Holiday Extras. The idea was simple – they take the stress out of travelling so you head off on holiday feeling chilled. And it sparked my interest. In some research conducted by Holiday Extras in Birmingham, they discovered that 40% of people said that getting to the airport and long queues inside make them feel tense by the time they go on holiday. And I have to admit, I tend to be one of them. I usually get the train to the airport – and…

The Black Forest – Europe’s best kept secret

Holidays have changed for us since becoming parents. Gone are the days of jetting off to New Zealand, South Africa or Venezuela on a whim. Throwing a few clothes into a backpack and trekking through the jungle, leaping out of a plane or scuba diving with sharks. And whilst these things are out of reach for now, I still crave that elusive family holiday to a little-known destination. Where tourists are catered for and welcomed with open arms, but swimming pools aren’t crowded, breakfast doesn’t always consist of a fry up and the countryside is clean, beautiful and unaltered. When I…

Amsterdam with children

This is a collaborative post. When I got married, I didn’t really want a hen do. It seemed like an unnecessary expense when we were already shelling out for the wedding and a honeymoon to New Zealand. But as it turned out, the weekend before the wedding, there happened to be a water polo tournament in Amsterdam. So, I had that hen do after all – and totally fell in love with Amsterdam. Sadly, as is often the case with these things, I didn’t see as much of the city as I wanted to. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to head…

Travel Zen Yoga at Airparks Birmingham

Last week, I was asked to take part in a really fun campaign for Holiday Extras, which involved Lia and I heading to Airparks Birmingham for a spot of yoga. The campaign was based on the fact that opinions are so divided in Birmingham over whether holiday travel is the start of the holiday, or a stressful nightmare. In a survey conducted by Holiday Extras, 35% of people felt that the journey to the airport marked the start of the holiday, whilst 39% felt that it was the most stressful part of their holiday preparation. So, travellers were invited to find…

Bluestone Wales Review

We were lucky enough to be invited to review the Bluestone Wales holiday destination. We had a four-night mid-week stay free of charge to allow us to do so. Booking activities at Bluestone Wales Once our stay had been booked for us, I received a booking confirmation email from Bluestone Wales. The email contained a link, through which I was able to book additional activities and services. For example, outdoor activities and buggies could be added to our booking at any time. This made it particularly convenient to add activities to our order both before travelling and during our stay. Special offers…

Win a holiday to the Black Forest, Germany!

The Baden-Baden region of Germany has been on my bucket list of destinations to visit since day one. Not only is it seemingly one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, but it is the place that my family originate from, definitely a place I need to visit. Incredibly, I have been lucky enough to be invited to visit the region on a three day whistle-stop tour, courtesy of Fly-Baden – a co-operation of tourist destinations within the Baden-Baden region. And what’s more, you can join me! All you have to do to win a three day round trip to the Black…

Self-catering luxury at Blairmore Farm

Last week we were lucky enough to spend the week at Blairmore Farm, which provides luxury self-catering accommodation in the Perth and Kinross area of Scotland. The purpose of our stay was for me to review Blairmore Farm, but since coming home I’ve been putting off writing my review. Why? Because I have no idea how my words or photographs could possibly do justice to such an amazing place. Booking a stay at Blairmore Farm I was asked to review Blairmore Farm by Embrace Scotland – the premier resource for booking self-catering holidays in Scotland. From that point on, I was in…
