Spring style for open water swimmers [AD]

This time of year is a little odd isn’t it? Do you find it difficult to dress for the weather when you go out in the morning to frost on the ground, then bask in hot sunshine by midday? Me too. Then add in an unhealthy obsession with open water swimming that requires an ability to get in every available safe body of water. It’s unsurprising that dressing appropriately can be a little difficult. As always though, Cotton Traders have some options that cater for every eventuality.
Spring style for open water swimmers: Cotton Traders Trousers
I have lots of pairs of trousers from Cotton Traders. Not just because they are one of my favourite brands, but because their trousers last for ages. I am someone who wears clothes to death. I’ll find a pair I like and that’s me done, I’ll be wearing them for years. In fact, I don’t usually stop until they wear out. And that has never happened with any of my Cotton Traders trousers. Fortunately, they offer a range of neutral styles that pair well with anything so even as the seasons change, I can still get away with wearing my favourite trousers.
This spring, I chose a very light, breathable pair of wide-leg trousers. They’re super easy to pull on and off for swimming due to the elasticated waistband and wide-leg fit. Available in three colours and sizes 8-26, these are ideal for any occasion from an evening out to a walk in the countryside. Paired with boots and a light raincoat that I got in the Autumn, the Sienna printed wide-leg trousers are smart and comfortable.
Spring style for open water swimmers: Legline Swimsuit
The thing about Spring is that days starting with raincoats and trousers can often progress to days that require swimsuits. Many of the Cotton Traders products have similar colour schemes, like the Sienna printed trousers and their legline swimsuit. This makes it easy to pair the two together and the swimsuit is so understated that it could definitely be mistaken as a top.
Add in the shorts-style length of the swimsuit and it’s something I would happily wear on its own on the beach or for a river picnic when the weather warms up. It would also be great for an SUP adventure, a triathlon or a dip in a lake, river or the sea. I’ll be taking it to the pool too as it fits nicely and I’ll feel comfortable doing a full swimming training session in it.
Floral lace-up boots
Whilst the weather is starting to allow more summery clothing to make an appearance, it is very much still boot weather when it comes to footwear. Much as I would love to get my sandals out, the ground is still extremely muddy. These floral lace-up boots give a nod to spring with their fabulous pattern, whilst remaining entirely practical for the reality of the time of year.
I absolutely love these boots. They look amazing yet they’re so practical. I am actually hoping that boot weather will be behind us pretty soon, but when it is, these will be going safely away for rainy days and I’ll be living in them next Winter.
