Things to do in Staffordshire February Half Term 2025

School holidays are approaching again, so it’s time to check out all the things to do in Staffordshire during February half term 2025. As half term isn’t quite such a big event as the Christmas holidays, many places announce their plans quite late. If your favourite attraction doesn’t have anything listed as yet, do get in touch with them to see what their plans are. Things to do in Staffordshire February half term 2025: Alton Towers

The pirates of Mutiny Bay have taken over the Alton Towers resort and selected areas of the theme park. Visitors will meet with Captain Black and his crew on a pirate adventure. Mutiny Bay and Towers street will be open with live shows and entertainment. A few rides are open, most of them look to be for younger children so if you’re thinking of visiting with tweens and teens, check the website first. The Sea Life Sharkbait Reef and aquarium experience will be available to visit too. Little explorers can also head off on a Pieces of Eight treasure hunt.

Churnet Valley Railway

Churnet Valley Railway will be running trains on selected dates during February half term 2025 in Staffordshire. Step back to the 1950s and 60s in a traditional carriage that is both child-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Refreshments are available at Froghall station. You could even upgrade your onboard experience and travel on a breakfast, afternoon tea or Sunday lunch train.

Dates: 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd February 2025 (these are weekends only – do check the website if you’re hoping to travel during the week as they sometimes offer more school holiday trains closer to the time).

Drayton Manor Park

Drayton Manor are celebrating Thomas the Tank Engine’s 80th birthday this half term with the Big Blue Birthday Bash. Look out for live entertainment, cupcake decorating, marshmallow toasting and a candy trail. If you book before 1st February, tickets are available at the discount price of £19.90 each. It’s worth bearing in mind that only Thomas Land rides will be open, the big rides haven’t opened up for 2025 yet so it’s very much a day for the little ones.

Things to do in Staffordshire February half term 2025: Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses

There’s no particular event listed at Kinver edge this February half term, but they’re open all week and there’s plenty for families to do. Have a look around the historic rock houses, carved into sandstone and restored to show what life was like there until the 1960s. Explore the ironage hillfort, grab a treat from the café and enjoy the views across Staffordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire. Check out the local wildlife and enjoy some beautiful walks.

Lower Drayton Farm

The regular Lambs & Ewe event at Lower Drayton Farm is back for February half term 2025. Meet some of the cutest babies on the farm with over 100 different breeds of sheep. Watch an educational film about sheep and lambs, get up close with them in the lambing barn and learn facts with the sheep knowledge trail. Then help Farmer Ray and Shep the dog to find lost sheep. Lower Drayton farm also boasts both indoor and outdoor play areas and small animal zones.

National Forest Adventure Farm

It’s all about new life on the farm at the National Forest Adventure Farm in Staffordshire this February half term. Visit the lambs to help bottle feed them and even witness one being born if you’re there at the right time. Other baby animals at this time of year include goat kids, piglets, chicks and calfs. Take part in a range of farming themed activities and enjoy the large indoor and outdoor play areas.

Things to do in Staffordshire February half term 2025: Statfold Country Park

Visit Statfold for a fun, family adventure this February half term. A day ticket will get you unlimited train rides around Statfold Country Park and a look around the locomotive museum. Soft play, climbing and roller discos are available for an additional cost.

Things to do in Staffordshire February Half Term 2025: FAQs

When is February half term 2025 in Staffordshire?

In most Staffordshire schools, February half term runs from Monday 17th to Friday 21st February. However, private schools and academies often have longer holidays and the dates of them may differ.

Why stay local during school holidays in 2025?

According to the Times, demand for holidays abroad returned to pre-pandemic levels in 2024, but supply has not yet caught up so prices have skyrocketed. That’s why staying local this year might be a good idea – you can do some of these fantastic activities, support the local economy and save up for a holiday next year when prices may have come back down.
