Things to do in Herefordshire February Half Term 2024

School holidays are approaching again, so it’s time to check out all the things to do in Herefordshire during February half term 2024. Herefordshire has an abundance of beautiful National Trust properties, many of which put on events for children when schools have broken up. If you are a National Trust member, entry to those events will be free. If you’re on a budget, check out these free things to do in Herefordshire as well.

Berrington Hall National Trust

This February half term, a fairytale trail based on the beautiful story of the Elves and the Shoemaker comes to Berrington Hall. Pick up a trail pack from reception and look out for the 8 weird wellies that the stars of the tale have hidden around the garden. Trail packs cost £3 per child in addition to the cost of entry. They include a bag, a colouring sheet, coloured pencils and prize.

When and where: 10th to 18th February 2024, Berrington Hall, Herefordshire.

Brockhampton Estate National Trust

February half term marks time to wake up the orchards at Brockhampton with a Wassail trail. Pick up a trail pack from reception and take a walk through the orchards to learn about the ancient tradition of wassailing to awaken the fruit trees so they can get ready for the next harvest. Trail packs cost £3 per child in addition to the cost of entry. They include a bag, a colouring sheet, coloured pencils and prize.

When and where: Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th February 2024, Brockhampton National Trust.

Things to do in Herefordshire February Half Term 2024: Courtyard Theatre Hereford

Courtyard Theatre has something a little unexpected on this February, since we would usually associate it with Christmas holidays. Hereford Amateur Pantomime Society will be putting on a pantomime of Rapunzel. On the night before her coronation as Queen, Princess Rapunzel disappears. It’s up to Captain Fritz to find Rapunzel, who has been captured and locked in the tower by Bad Duke Boris Badenuff and Sorceress Gothel.

When and where: Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th February 2024, Courtyard Theatre Hereford.

Croft Castle

This February half term, a garden gnome trail comes to Croft Castle. Did you know that these funny little creatures are supposed to be guardians of our natural world? You’ll find them looking after wildlife, lounging around in the grass and doing some fishing. Pick up a trail pack from reception and find out what Croft’s gnomes have been up to this half term. Trail packs cost £3 per child in addition to the cost of entry. They include a bag, a colouring sheet, coloured pencils and prize.

Things to do in Herefordshire February Half Term 2024: Goodrich Castle English Heritage

Goodrich Castle has not announced an event for February half term 2024, but they are open all week, from 10th to 18th February. This is a fascinating historical castle that offers visitors a free audio guide to hear about its eventful past. Children will enjoy the free family trail that features nine cartoon characters. Each one represents someone who would have lived at the castle. If you manage to climb to the top of the tower, you will enjoy views across the Wye Valley and both English and Welsh countryside.
