Thursday Photo #93

This week, I’ve taken a bit of time off work and we have filled the week with lovely days out and time together as a family. I have enjoyed it so much, I can’t wait for my next week off with the girls. We have managed to cram in the Sea Life Centre, @Bristol, Drayton Manor and Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds. We also managed a quiet day at home for some recovery time in between all the excitement. We have finally got around to investing in an iPad, something I’ve wanted to do for a while. This week instead of a weekly update, I’ve got a story to tell. As usual, my dangerous dog plays a starring role. It all started as soon as I stepped out of the door to take the dogs for a walk. My husband had taken the girls to playgroup and true to form, he’d forgotten to take a spare nappy for Lia, who promptly crapped herself. He sent me a text asking me to drop off a spare. This week has been an ordinary week. Nothing unusual has happened and it has flown by as quickly as ever. But this week, I’ve tried a little bit harder to slow down and appreciate the ordinary moments. The ones I know I will look back on and yearn for in years to come when the girls are adults and don’t need their mum anymore. Our little moments We have started receiving regular updates via a computer system at the nursery Libby goes to and today, there was a photograph on there of her painting a daffodil. It’s the first time…

Since my husband had his accident, I’ve learnt a fair bit about DIY. We love our home, the location and house type are perfect. But we need to do a lot of work on it to get it as we want it. Over the past few months I’ve connected a radiator and fixed a fence, among other unexpected tasks. Long term, we’d love to extend both to the side and into the roof. This will give us the opporunity to have an extra bedroom wtih an en-suite, a larger kitchen and separate dining room. With all this in mind, we’ve…

Our Thursday Photo #89

Well, this week hasn’t been our finest hour. My husband still has a long road to recovery ahead of him and I’m quite frankly exhausted. I wrote recently about the fact that I’m not embracing positivity, I’m satisfied to just let things be and remember that there is always an end to it. I’ve had some fun blogging this week, I was proud that Mumsnet featured me on their front page yesterday, with my post about not judging other mums.  I’ve also worked on an exciting project with Drayton Manor which will be revealed soon I’m sure. It has given me a chance to reflect…
