It always amazes me how quickly everyone’s thoughts turn to Christmas as soon as Halloween is over. I’ve started publishing my Christmas gift guides this week and hundreds of people read my Christmas blog posts every day. For me though, there’s lots more to do before I start thinking about getting our house ready for Christmas. Moving rooms Since Lia was tiny, the girls have shared a bedroom. We’ve asked them on numerous occasions whether they’d like their own room and the answer has always been a firm no. Recently though, something has changed. The girls were talking the other…

By the middle of last week, it felt like the children had been off school for ages. We packed so much in that we were all exhausted. I started wondering whether we were doing too much. Then in a flash, the children were back to school again. We fell back into our usual routine, spending only a few hours together each day. I used to think that self-care had to be about a spa day or doing something relaxing. Wild swimming has made me realise that you don’t necessarily have to relax to de-stress. Whilst I’m not averse to a spa day or massage, a swim, run, horse ride or trip to the theatre is just as good. I’m pretty sure I’ve been less stressed since getting…

Blogging is a funny game. Until recently, I’d settled into a routine of publishing posts quite regularly. Most weekdays I’d post something and occasionally at the weekend. For the past couple of months though, I’ve been writing one post. It’s taking me ages because it’s a roundup post of dog friendly days out. Researching and writing it is dull but I know it will be really helpful to a lot of people, so I want to get it done. In the meantime though, I’ve ended up posting sporadically on the blog. I’m looking forward to getting back to normal when…
