With the announcement about lockdown coming to an end, it seems strange to be finally making plans again. Not a lot will change for us really, but the girls can’t wait to get back into the swimming pool. Christmas of course causes another dilemma, but thankfully I think for us it will be easily resolved. My mum is in our bubble anyway and we usually see her on Christmas day and boxing day. So, we’ll stick to the usual plan. It will be a shame that we can’t see other relatives we usually visit, but it’s only for one year.…

Freelance life never fails to take me by surprise. One moment, I’m merrily ripping down cupboards to decorate the kitchen. Safe in the knowledge that I’ve got no work on. I’ll easily get the whole lot painted and put back together within a few days. The next moment, my three email accounts for different jobs are all going mad and I’ve got a months worth of work lined up for the next week. It looks like the kitchen will have to wait, thank goodness nobody is allowed in our house for the time being. History When I was at school,…

Lockdown seems so different this time around. For the first time in a long time, the news this week has been mainly positive. With Trump and his toddler tantrums soon to be ejected from the White House and a vaccine set to land shortly, things are looking up. School reports With social distancing measures in place, we’ve had virtually no interaction with the girls’…

Here we go again, back to lockdown. Hasn’t 2020 been the strangest year? A couple of news reports yesterday suggested that there was a small chance a vaccine may be ready by Christmas. Realistically, that means that the vulnerable will be receiving it between Easter and Summer next year. Whilst that seems a long way off, we have to accept it as a positive sign. It’s amazing how quickly the vaccine development has progressed. At least it gives us hope that 2021 might not be such a washout. Business as usual I feel exceptionally lucky this time around that lockdown…

Hasn’t the half term holiday absolutely flown by? Perhaps it’s because the last time the children were off school it was for such an insufferably long time. Either way, we’ve packed loads into the past few days and half term is nearly over already. Roll on the Christmas holidays. A labour of love Lia has been working incredibly hard on her swimming since lockdown ended. I was surprised that when she first went back, she hadn’t lost any technique or fitness. In fact, swimming in the river and all the other exercise we did during lockdown seemed to have made…
