HIBS100 Homesense Christmas Party Birmingham
I stepped off the train at Birmingham New Street and fought my way though crowds of tipsy shoppers at the Christmas market. After a brief pause in Starbucks to change into my cripplingly beautiful shoes, I headed to the Lost and Found for the HIBS100 Homesense Christmas party. Not knowing anybody who was going, I arrived alone and asked the barmaid where the party was taking place. “It’s in the private function room behind the bookcase.”
The Lost and Found Birmingham
I worked in Birmingham for a few years prior to having children so I know quite a few of the bars in town. However I’d never discovered the Lost and Found but now that I have, I’ll be back. When I was told to enter the party via the bookcase, I immediately knew it was going to be a good night.
The Lost and Found is a large pub located on Bennett’s Hill, not far from New Street. It has a great atmosphere, lively and vibrant with an eclectic mix of customers. The decor is vintage inspired and stepping into the function room is like going into someone’s home. That said, it was made particularly homely by the fabulous Homesense Christmas table decorations on display.
About Homesense
Homesense are the sister company to TKMax and they work on the same basis. High quality, branded goods are sourced from all over the world and sold to consumers for up to 60% under the usual RRP. This is done without compromising on ethics and they support charities both in the UK and in the areas they source their goods from. Their stock changes every week so you have to snap it up when you see it! And this week in Birmingham they had some of their gorgeous Christmas collection on display.
The Homesense Christmas Collection
I’m never great at buying Christmas decorations. I do like to get into the Christmas spirit but the hideous bright colours and tacky ornaments that the children would have me buy just don’t inspire me. Homesense on the other hand have managed to capture the essence of Christmas without the tat. It’s sparkly and Christmassy with neutral, exciting shapes and a generous dose of fabulous.
HIBS100 and the Christmas party
Until this month, I’d never been to a blog event before. When I first started blogging it was very much a hobby. As time passed, I realised I was so passionate about it that I could make a career of it. When I started taking it all a bit more seriously I hoped to go to some events, but life got in the way when my husband had an accident and I wasn’t able to leave him with the children for extended periods of time.
So fast forward to this month and I’ve finally started to make it to some events! Earlier in November I went to WTM London and I was delighted to be invited to the HIBS100 Christmas party. HIBS100 is where the most influential lifestyle bloggers in the UK hang out. HIBS facilitate brands working with these awesome bloggers and hold rather fabulous parties!
After walking into a room full of strangers, I ended up having a fabulous night. Everyone was friendly, chatty and great company. It has given me the confidence to go to more events. The fact that I didn’t know anybody didn’t matter, we all had blogging in common and the conversation flowed as freely as the Prosecco.
