With restrictions starting to be lifted, many of us are planning to see family for the first time in a long time. Unfortunately by mother’s day, lots of us still won’t feel confident visiting our mums without putting them at risk. I feel incredibly lucky that my mum has been able to form a support bubble with us throughout lockdown. But for anyone who isn’t able to see their mum just yet, Moonpig have some fantastic lockdown mother’s day gifts that can be sent directly. Their personalised cards can be sent directly too, which is a lovely way to show your mum or mother figure that you’re thinking of them.

Personalised cards from Moonpig

Having once received the most thoughtless mother’s day card ever, I understand that it really is the thought that counts. When my children were very young, my husband clearly decided at the last minute that he should make a half-arsed effort to get me a mother’s day card from them. So off he went to the shop and he clearly grabbed the first card he came to. It was in fact a pink flowery card with “Happy Birthday” on the front. A fact he didn’t realise until I pointed it out when I opened it.

In contrast, Moonpig offer personalised mother’s day cards that can be created especially for your mum. It’s not just for mums either, you can change the text on many of the cards to create one for nan, step-mum or whoever your mother figure is. I used a photo of the girls that I took in my mum’s garden to make a card for my mum. They call her nan so this card was ideal for her. We were even able to personalise the front to say who it was from. I got the card sent to me so we can write it and give it to her. But you can also send this directly to somebody without writing it and Moonpig put your message inside for you.

Mother’s day plants and flowers

I always get my mum some flowers for mother’s day. With it falling in Spring, it seems like the right time to have flowers in the house. Before long, my mum’s garden will have beautiful flowers everywhere but for now, it’s lovely to cheer up the house with some floral colours. A selection of bouquets are available so you can choose the right one for your mum’s taste and colour scheme.

Personally, I prefer a plant to flowers, but Moonpig have got you covered there too. When my sister got married nearly three years ago, we all had little succulents on the table instead of traditional wedding favours. They were adorable tiny plants, the size of your finger. But nearly three years on, the plants have grown huge and multiplied massively. So, I treated myself to a beautiful hanging plant pot from Moonpig to put a few of my succulents in.

Lockdown mother’s day gifts from Moonpig

Being able to send a gift this mother’s day will be important to so many people as we wait to celebrate safely again. Like the plants and flowers, Moonpig’s lockdown mother’s day gift selection is as varied as the mother figures in our lives. I was particularly taken with their indulgent hampers. My sisters and I have started to buy each other gift hampers for birthdays and they bring so much joy. When there’s nothing in particular your mother figure needs, a hamper will show them that you are thinking of them. Choose their favourite theme whether that’s cheese, chocolate or an alcoholic gift. This tea and bubbles hamper is a lovely gift to receive and consume.

If your mum would prefer an at-home spa experience, there’s lots to chose from as well. A range of Sanctuary Spa gifts are ideal for a long bath taking time to relax. Treat your mum’s skin to a detox too with a This Works evening detox gift set. Detox cleansing water and a detox clay mask will leave her skin looking fabulous.

While we’re on the subject of indulgence, there are plenty of chocolate gifts available for mother’s day. A Green and Black’s Connoisseur Collection is full of organic chocolate bars of different flavours. A useful chart tells you what to pair each one with for the ultimate taste sensation. Of course, there is a bar of chocolate to pair with a good bottle of wine. So, Moonpig have got you covered for that too.
