Facing the dreaded induction again

Well, as predicted it’s 11 days after my due date and I’m still pregnant. Induction is booked for tomorrow, I’ve been given a 50/50 chance of going into labour before then but I think the midwife was just being nice. My Bishop score was only 5, so from what I’ve read the odds of going into labour naturally are pretty small. I’ve tried all the old wives tales, as predicted they didn’t work. It does make me think back to my last induction, not a particularly positive experience so I’m hoping that it will be a little bit better this time. When…

A well timed price cut!

As I am currently on maternity leave, finances are somewhat tight at the moment. We usually do our monthly shop online and spend around £200. We also nip to the shop as and when we need fresh fruit and veg. This month though, Morrisons have cut all of their prices and I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to be one of the #MorrisonsMums, receiving £80 worth of vouchers to buy our meals for the weekend. More information about the price cuts can be found here: www.morrisons.com/pricecuts For us, particularly with the new pricing, £80 goes an awful…

Our morning routine – the calm before the storm!

I was lucky enough to receive three packets of belVita Breakfast biscuits in return for posting about our #MorningStories. I thought I’d take the opportunity to post now while it’s just Libby and I getting ready in the mornings. As soon as we throw a baby into the equation our nice little morning routine is going to be so different! Libby and I are not morning people. At all. Unlike most toddlers, Libby rarely gets up before 8 am, it’s usually a bit later. For me, this is great because I do my work when she’s sleeping so when I’m…

Getting ready for a summer of sport!

I know that I am slightly guilty of harping on about sport too much on my blog, but it’s the one thing that I really love to do with my spare time. The other thing that you might have noticed is my timing when it comes to having babies. Libby was born in June 2012, which meant that most of my maternity leave was spent watching the Olympics and Paralympics slaving away looking after her. If I’m honest, we even managed to make it down to London to watch some fabulous Olympic water polo. By some strange coincidence, I find…

My Due Date – An Uneventful Day

Well, it’s nearly 9 pm on the 26th of April, the day I’m due to have my second baby. As I predicted, the day has so far passed without event. The baby has three hours to appear on time and it’s looking somewhat unlikely! I’ve tried pretty much everything to get things moving but none of it is having any effect. In two pregnancies, I’ve never experienced braxton hicks at all. I’m fully expecting to have to be induced again, much to my disappointment. I even tried the power of Murphy’s law; I booked lunch at a lovely restaurant for today,…

Raising a Little Foodie

When I was at school, cookery lessons were rubbish. We learnt very little about health and nutrition and generally actually cooked about once a term. As you can imagine, I dropped the subject as soon as I could and didn’t take it for GCSE.  Fast forward ten years when my younger sister was in school, and things were completely different. All of my sisters learnt about the benefits of healthy eating and became very accomplished bakers during their school years. Unfortunately, it seems that cookery in schools has regressed somewhat and is no longer a priority.  That’s why I was…

Baby Eviction Techniques!

Update: I wrote this just before I had my second baby and none of these worked for me! I ended up being induced. I’m guessing you’re desperate to avoid induction but if that’s the way it goes for you, don’t worry. It’s not the greatest experience but you’ll get there. Soon you will have your baby in your arms. Look at my little one now! Nonetheless, read on for ten things that are said to help you prevent being induced. Best wishes from me for your final days of pregnancy, birth and motherhood.  At the moment I find myself in…
