Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic: review

This year, Disney on Ice are celebrating 100 years of magic. The shows on this tour feature an incredible 50 favourite Disney characters. It felt a little more fragmented than previous shows because there are more stories than ever. However, there are so many favourite songs that this didn’t matter at all. The show was presented by Mickey and a few friends as they explored iconic Disney stories from the past 100 years. 100 Years of Magic: The Show From the moment Mickey and Minnie came on the ice to introduce Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic, the…

Blogging is a funny game. Until recently, I’d settled into a routine of publishing posts quite regularly. Most weekdays I’d post something and occasionally at the weekend. For the past couple of months though, I’ve been writing one post. It’s taking me ages because it’s a roundup post of dog friendly days out. Researching and writing it is dull but I know it will be really helpful to a lot of people, so I want to get it done. In the meantime though, I’ve ended up posting sporadically on the blog. I’m looking forward to getting back to normal when…

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

Do you ever stand and face a mirror for no other reason than to see who is looking back at you? What do you see? Is your face the sum of all your experiences, a tale of a life well lived? Do you see the person who went through all those trials and tribulations to get to where you are now? Or do you see every wrinkle, grey hair and unwanted feature that taunts you? See the ones who didn’t make it When you stare into the eyes in the mirror, do you curse the dark circles beneath them? Look…

I’ve always been a serial over-committer. Do you want to do this? Yes, absolutely. Let’s do it. There’s never much of a thought process. Can I do it? Whilst I was absolutely looking forward to it, there was also a small…

Urban Tough Mudder Clapham Common: Review

From the bottom of an unreasonably high, sloping wall, getting up there seemed like an impossible feat. About two thirds of the way up was a small ledge. Tough mudders were standing on shoulders and hoisting each other up to reach the ledge. At the top, more competitors hung precariously over to grab hold of wrists and shoulders and haul people from the ledge. I looked around at my team and willed one of them to suggest missing this obstacle. They didn’t. Asking for help isn’t my forte, but neither is letting people down. I was going up the pyramid…

Do you find yourself looking forward to a different time of year when things will be a little quieter? In the run-up to the school summer holidays, I was longing for things to calm down. Every evening and weekend was packed full of plans. Then the holidays came and we filled virtually every day. Now that the children are back to school I’m into a routine again, but outside of school hours, it’s jam packed as usual. Reading and mum guilt When Libby started school, we used to sit down after school every day to read a book with her.…
