An interview with Rebecca Adlington!

Yesterday, I received an amazing email asking if I would like to interview Rebecca Adlington for my blog. Yes, THE Rebecca Adlington! I nearly fell off my chair! Miraculously, it wasn’t a wind up and this lunch time we had a chat and I was lucky enough to be able to ask her a few questions. Here are the results!  Q1. Recent research has shown that swimming has a great effect on children’s confidence. What is it about swimming above other sports that gives children such a confidence boost? You start swimming at a young age and initially you’re supported…

Exciting new challenges!

This year, I made my usual start to the summer where running is concerned. I entered a half marathon in June, knowing full well that I probably wouldn’t have trained enough, but that I’d probably manage to get round. Sure enough, that was exactly what happened. As the summer went on, I became a bit more enthusiastic about my fitness and started trying to find a different challenge each month. July was a triathlon, August was an aquathlon, and now I’ve entered my events for September and October. What fantastic events they are too!  In September I’ve got two runs…

Keep on running…

I really want to be good at running. I do my best to get out for a run at least a few times a week. It can take as little as 20 minutes so there’s never an excuse not to to. Much as I would love to say that it’s time that holds me back, being too busy with work or with Libby, it’s just not true. The fact is, I’m just chronically lazy. Today, I really wanted to do our local ParkRun. My husband was free to look after Libby, the car was available so I could get there… but…

Up and running!

Right from day one, we could see that Libby was going to be a bit of a character. Her ministry of silly faces gave that away… What also became apparent very swiftly was her love of food and drink. These days she can tell us that she’s hungry, usually by shouting for banana, cake or, if she can’t say the right word, just “mmmmmm!!!” Even when she was tiny though, we got the general idea of what she wanted… Libby is also very keen on exercise. She has been trying to walk since she was about 2 months old. At…

New shoes!!!

Last week, I received an email asking if I would like to review a pair of running shoes. This came at the perfect time for me, my old pair were so far beyond repair it was no longer funny. I really couldn’t justify forking out for another pair of shoes but I was determined to keep on running. I have done a half marathon and a triathlon recently in shoes that were digging into my feet at the back where the fabric had worn away and had huge holes in the toes.  So you can imagine my excitement this afternoon…

Pre-race dinner!

Tomorrow is a big day for all of us, especially Libby. Her dad and I are running a half marathon and Libby is competing in her first race- a 1km walk that she will be doing with her aunty Emma.    We always have pasta for dinner the night before a race, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try the new Mediterranean Chicken Pasta + Cheesy Crumb Topping from the Schwartz range. I’m vegetarian, so we substituted the Chicken for Quorn. I’m always really pleased when sauces that are designed to go with chicken are vegetarian. Quorn pieces are…
