The problem with freelancing is that it’s so all or nothing. At the moment especially, many freelancers are struggling with lack of work. Unsurprisingly though, when work does come, it all arrives at the same time. After a few weeks of not having too much work and happily bumbling along doing my own thing, this week has been a busy one for me. I even had to work most of the night on Tuesday, which I haven’t done for a long time. As I keep reminding myself though, I’ll be glad of it at the end of the month. Being…

Having craved routine for so long during the summer, everything is starting to feel a bit like groundhog day now isn’t it? School. Home. Taxi the kids around. Listen to news about the pandemic. With just two more weeks to go until half term, it feels fortuitous that the schools are still open. Whilst Covid cases are rising again, there does seem to be some hope that education won’t be disrupted just yet. Things seem to have settled down a bit here this week. We’ve relaxed into our routine and things are starting to seem normal. Masks are a part of everyday life, even for the children. Personally, I’m filling my time while they are at school although not in the way I thought I would. Work is very all or nothing and sometimes, there’s not as much work available as I would like. It has given me a chance to do plenty of running and swimming and catch up with friends. Now though, I do probably need to start looking around for…

This week I’ve had a brilliant time doing lots of things I should have said no to. It was already quite busy and I do tend to get overwhelmed when there’s loads going on. But I said yes to meeting friends for walking and swimming adventures. Partly because there’s a good chance I won’t be able to meet people in a few weeks time. Mainly because the colder the water gets, the more addicted I am to getting in it. Outdoor adventures I’ve been hearing about Carding Mill Valley for years from friends. Mainly due to its beautiful little reservoir…
