Isn’t it amazing how much better everybody feels for a bit of sea air? We felt so lucky during lockdown to live in a beautiful area where we could walk every day. We were also incredibly grateful for our garden and the opportunity to get out for a swim in the river once things started to ease. The one thing we did miss though was the beach. It has been a long time coming but we finally made it to the beach this week. It was rather a relief to get back in the sea.   Breaking up a journey…

For the first time since lockdown, I’m having to consult my diary to remember what we’ve been up to this week. It has been remarkably busy. When we were in full lockdown, I appreciated the break from constantly being on the go. But now that we’re easing ourselves back into life gently, I’m quite enjoying it. It’s great to see the children playing with their friends again and to start catching up with some friends myself. The best version of normal It has been interesting to see how different places have interpreted the covid compliance rules. We’ve been for a…

With the children having been off school for so long, it is ridiculous that I haven’t adapted a bit better. When I look at things logically, I realise that the girls really need to run off some energy during the early part of each day. Not necessarily first thing, but by lunchtime at least. As much as the first week of the school holidays dragged, this one has gone in a flash. We’re not back to our usual levels of chaos, but we’ve started to get out and about a bit more. Most notably, the children have finally been swimming. Not quite in the nice warm swimming pool they were expecting, but the river was definitely a good alternative. Revisiting old haunts Up until Lia went to school, we went to National Trust Croome most weeks. Lia and I would often go while Libby was at school for a walk, a drink and a…

With the school summer holidays finally here, it is a strange feeling that nothing has changed. My husband took the day off on Monday and we had a lovely day out with friends. We even saw a kingfisher while we ate our picnic by a stream. Since then though, we have pretty much carried on where we left off last week. Lia isn’t in school, I’m not doing schoolwork in the mornings with Libby but those are the only changes. It is a far cry from our usual start to school holidays where we pack the van and head to…
