For the first time in ages, I didn’t manage to go swimming in the river this week. The water level was a little higher than we felt comfortable with, so we took the sensible option and didn’t go in. It has left me feeling a bit lost. Those few minutes of bobbing about in freezing cold water really do make all the difference to my week. Reading for pleasure As a child, I used to read for pleasure from a very young age. By the time I was Libby’s age, I had read all the books in the school library.…

It seems the topic on everybody’s lips this week is the weather. After that deceptively glorious sunshine, it has finally returned to the much anticipated rain. Personally I’m quite pleased. Hopefully, next time the sun comes out it really will be the start of Spring and it will be here to stay a little longer. Improving Less than a year ago, Lia couldn’t swim. What a beautiful week. Sunshine at this time of year makes it seem like Spring really is just around the corner doesn’t it? The girls are back to school, I’m back into a routine with work and the river is warming up already. This is the first time for a while that the school holidays has seemed somewhat hard going. Usually, the thought of it is harder than the reality. This half term has been a challenge though, and I’m not even sure why. A short break in Dorset As we usually do in the school holidays, we decided to make the most of the camper van and have a few days away. This time, we headed for Highlands End holiday park in Dorset. They have static caravans, glamping pods and camping for camper vans, caravans and tents. The facilities are excellent with…

Just like that, half a term has passed and the school holidays are impending again. Unusually for us, we’re here for most of the holiday, so we’ll be working our way through my list of things to do in the West Midlands this half term. Before that though, we’re off to Dorset for a few days. We’re camping by the beach so I’ll be taking my swimming costume with me and hoping to get in for a sea swim. Watching week A few times a year, they have a watching week at the girls’ ballet school. I always love to…
