Van Life Family On Tour! [AD]

Advertorial

Whether you’re a seasoned camper van family or simply van-curious, hiring a van on a trip abroad is a great way to get around. When my husband and I got married, we planned the whole wedding around the honeymoon. Why? Because prior to the proposal, we had already decided that we wanted to go to New Zealand for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Once we’d decided to get married, it made sense that this would be the honeymoon. So, before booking the wedding, we’d booked our flights and hired a camper van.

Why hire a camper van?

There was a time in the dim and distant past when travelling around meant hopping on a motorbike. However, things aren’t so straightforward when you have kids. So, the mode of transport needs to be a bit more practical. Here in the UK, we always travel in our van and it makes life so easy. Whether we’re on a road trip from the West Midlands to Scotland or a quick weekend away, our van is super practical.

Next year, we have decided that we’ll probably venture a bit further afield on holiday. At present, we’re still deciding whether to drive our van into Europe or to fly and hire a van when we’re there. The girls would both love to fly and I’d love to visit Iceland, so we’re looking at hiring a van from Cozy Campers.

Reasons to visit Iceland

For myself and my husband, travel is all about visiting beautiful places and experiencing different cultures. There was a time when that meant trips to Africa, South America and the Southern Hemisphere. These days though, those places are a little out of reach for our budget since we’ll have to travel in school holidays and pay for four flights. Luckily, culture and beauty are in abundance a little closer to home.

Iceland is in the North Atlantic and boasts stunning scenery, volcanoes, glaciers, geysers and an opportunity to view the Aurora Borealis. Its rich history associated with the Vikings is also fascinating. Did you know that Iceland is widely accepted to be the oldest democracy in the world?

As we would visit in school holidays, we would be able to experience the midnight sun. Iceland has 24-hour daylight from the middle of May to the end of July. We’d also love to go whale watching and visit geothermal baths. My horse-obsessed youngest daughter would insist on riding an Icelandic horse into the wilderness, and the scenery on road-trips over in Iceland is second to none – hence the desire to hire a van!

Why Cozy Campers?

Hiring a Cozy Campers van will ensure that we can explore Iceland in comfort and style. Mileage is unlimited and there are no hidden fees, so we can budget accordingly in advance. Heating is a must in some areas, and not only do Cozy Campers have state of the art heating, but they boast heated beds!

There’s a choice of premium, standard and budget campers, each in different sizes. 4x4s are available, ideal for exploring rugged terrain. Some vans also have a sky roof to allow you to enjoy the scenery from the comfort of the van.

The only problem with van travel if you’re hiring a van abroad is the need to lug sleeping bags and bedding over on the plane. Thankfully Cozy Campers have thought of that, and they provide duvets to keep you warm. All in all, this is a comfortable, practical way to make the most of a trip to a beautiful part of the world. It’s time to get planning!
