School Easter holidays are approaching, so it’s time for a list of things to do in the West Midlands. All events are family friendly and I advise checking the relevant website for dates, times and changes to their schedule before visiting. Please let me know your favourite things to do in the West Midlands during the Easter holidays if they’re not on my list! The emotional impact of sugar as running fuel

Do you ever feel yourself hitting an energy wall just over an hour into an exercise session? Running experts advise taking onboard some kind of fuel if you’re going to run for over 75 minutes. I’m generally terrible at doing this, but I realise I’m going to have to experiment with some kind of running fuel before the London Marathon. When I ran the Ultra Marathon, I was happy eating things like wraps and chocolate bars because it was such a long, slow run. But a marathon is different. So last time I went for a run, I needed to…

Dance Gear ballet clothing review

As 2019 ambassadors for the fabulous Dance Gear, Libby and Lia were delighted to be allowed to try out some of their ballet clothing. The girls have so many hobbies that kitting them out gets really expensive. For the past year, Lia has been in second hand clothes passed on from a friend. So, I decided to treat both girls to a new outfit. They each had a Dance Gear leotard with skirt attached, a cardigan, tights, socks and shoes. Here’s what we thought. What a beautiful week. Sunshine at this time of year makes it seem like Spring really is just around the corner doesn’t it? The girls are back to school, I’m back into a routine with work and the river is warming up already. Crowngate Kids Club at the Pod

Keeping the children entertained in the school holidays can be pricey. Shopping trips seem like an expedition with reluctant little ones. Sometimes though, a shopping centre goes the extra mile to make it a bit easier. We headed to Crowngate Shopping Centre in Worcester over half term to make the most of their free kids club. Kids club at the Pod For two days during half term, Crowngate arranged for a local independent business to come into the Pod and run free children’s activities. The first day, children decorated a ladybird house. We attended on the second day, to decorate…

Finding Instagram accounts you love and why it matters

Instagram divides the world into two groups. Those love it, and those who despise it. If you fall into the latter group, the likelihood is you’ve seen the dark side of it. Bullying, trolling and encouraging suicide. Even those who love social media are aware of that dark side. Yet I strongly feel that it can be incredibly positive as well. This is the a guide to finding Instagram accounts you love, and why it matters. All photos in this post are taken from my own account. Finding Instagram accounts like yours The sort of Instagram accounts I follow have…

This is the first time for a while that the school holidays has seemed somewhat hard going. Usually, the thought of it is harder than the reality. This half term has been a challenge though, and I’m not even sure why. A short break in Dorset As we usually do in the school holidays, we decided to make the most of the camper van and have a few days away. This time, we headed for Highlands End holiday park in Dorset. They have static caravans, glamping pods and camping for camper vans, caravans and tents. The facilities are excellent with…
