Inspirational Parents #14

For the latest in my Inspirational Parents series, I’m really honoured to feature a mum, and award-nominated author – Jemma Wayne. She has recently released her latest novel, Chains of Sand. 1. Tell me about the most unexpected change to you as a person or to your life since becoming a parent? Discovering that I can survive on an average of five hours sleep is definitely up there! But beyond that, I think learning that while the advent of children in no way dimmed my career ambitions – if anything it gave them greater purpose – at the same time those ambitions were overtaken, or…

This week has been a whirlwind, but in a good way – especially for Libby. Saturday was her birthday and she was performing with her Stage Performance group in a local fete. She is still the smallest in the drama group, and listening to her singing her little part in ‘Do Ray Me’ a couple of seconds late, then trotting off after the others at the end was both adorable and hilarious. All you have to do to win a three day round trip to the Black…

But those other parenting books tell you to hold her. They tell you that all she needs is comfort, to be close to her mum. But don’t cuddle her because…

It doesn’t seem like only a week ago that we were sitting in beautiful Blairmore Farm enjoying a relaxing evening with a few drinks before heading home the next day. So much has happened since then. After a characteristically hectic weekend, my husband went into hospital yesterday to have the operation he’s been waiting for. Whilst we won’t know for a while whether it has been successful, they did what they needed to do and he’s home now. Unfortunately for the short term, it has left him notably less mobile, so after a couple of busy days ferrying him to and…
