Friday Feature #2

Today’s Friday Feature is about a fabulous business that is leading the way when it comes to ethical purchasing, particularly in the fashion and beauty world. I also want to raise awareness of an incredible animal charity that really, really needs our support at this time of year. TIFF (UK) In recent years, I haven’t bothered too much with fashion and beauty. The reasons for this are twofold. Firstly, I work from home and rarely go out in the evenings, so I really don’t need to waste money on making myself beautiful (or at least vaguely presentable) just to stay…

Our Thursday Photo #30

Where have the last 30 weeks gone, answer me that?? And while you’re at it, how is it that child number two, at 30 weeks old is still keeping me awake for most of the night when child number one slept through from eight weeks old? Answers on a postcard please. If you could possibly include a sleep potion with your postcard I would be most grateful, thank you so much. In other news, we are still kicking the sorry arse out of Christmas. Two visits to Father Christmas last week, although one of them happened to be female. Either…

I used to be somebody

There was a time, not long ago, When I was someone else, you know.   I used to dance, I used to laugh.  You’ve seen me in a photograph.   I used to play, I used to run, I had some friends and had some fun.   But how things changed, and so they must. We all grow old and turn to dust.   And now my life is not my own, No one calls me on the phone.   I don’t go out, I can’t, you see. I live for someone else, not me.   My clothes are rags,…

Where there’s tea there’s hope

I love my job, being at home with my children every day is the best thing I could ever ask for. The most difficult parts of it though are the sleep deprivation and lack of time to myself. Both of these issues are soon forgotten when sitting down to do some work with a nice cup of tea on the go. This week, I have been reviewing a selection of teas from Dragonfly Tea. My teapot is one of my favourite possessions and easily one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. My sister Alice picked it up from a…

Being a work at home mum

I was chatting to someone today about being self-employed, and she asked me an interesting question. Now that I’m working for myself and working from home, would I go back? Absolutely not. But it does have its drawbacks, so here is a balanced view on the advantages and disadvantages of being a work from home mum.  Advantages 1. Bringing up my children.  I’m ashamed to say that when I had Libby, I thought I would be fine about going back to work when she was three months old and letting someone else look after her. Owing to my long hours and commute,…

NattyMat review

This has been a fascinating product to test, for the simple reason that NattyMat kindly provided me with two of their mats to review. Of course, hubby instantly claimed one of them, so we have a sort of his and hers review going on. Since the mats arrived yesterday, each of us has been swimming once on our own and we have also swam with the kids, so they have been well and truly put through their paces by us all. Firstly let me tell you about the product. It is designed for standing on when you are getting changed at…

Friday Feature #1

I have always loved blogging, particularly so since moving to my new site, I am genuinely excited about sitting down each day to blog. Like everyone though, I often get a bit of a writers block. This got me thinking that there really is no need to be short of a subject, since there are so many amazing businesses and charities that I could be promoting. I have always felt strongly that ethical purchasing was essential, and that companies going the extra mile to do their bit for charity, the community, fair trade or animal welfare should be supported. So…
