Violife Vegan Camembert Flavour Fondue [AD]
Many of us cut back on dairy for various reasons these days and if there’s one thing we struggle to give up, it’s cheese. Fortunately, vegan cheese alternatives have improved significantly over the past few years. So, whether you’re fully vegan or simply trying to cut back, you have options! One of my favourites is the Violife vegan camembert flavour fondue. Here’s how we created ours.
Violife Vegan Camembert Flavour Fondue
Whilst we’re not vegan, we are all vegetarian and I consume very little dairy. My girls enjoy cheese, but interestingly baked camembert is something my youngest really didn’t take to at all. So, when I suggested trying a Violife Vegan Camembert Flavour fondue, she was not impressed. Luckily, I convinced her to give it a try.
The Violife Camembert Flavour Le Rond can be served both hot and cold, and they even include a cooking leaflet in the box. I was determined to go for the hot option, since the Le Rond acts like melted cheese. You can serve it in the middle of a grazing platter and dip things into it to enjoy a fondue style dining experience.
I grabbed a load of our favourite dipping snacks and popped the Violife Camembert Flavour Le Rond in the oven for 10 minutes. While it baked, I put the snacks onto the plate and put the bowl containing the Le Rond in the centre once it was warm. We served it with breadsticks, peppers, olives, gherkins, sun-dried tomatoes crackers and Violife Smoky Cheddar Flavour Slices. The smoky slices are somewhere between sliced cheese and sliced ham. They are a little addictive. As for the Violife Vegan Camembert Flavour fondue, was it a hit? Absolutely. Even my youngest who didn’t actually like Camembert enjoyed this. It has a much lighter, less creamy flavour and is really easy to eat, especially melted with snacks to dip in it.
Other Violife Options
As mentioned, we enjoy the Violife Smoky Cheddar Flavour Slices. Their Original Flavour Slices taste great too. Again, they are rather less creamy than cheese with their own distinctive taste. Whether you enjoy it or not is totally a matter of taste. I wouldn’t necessarily be holding out hope of it tasting exactly like cheese, but that’s not a bad thing. It has a likeable flavour and works well in sandwiches, which is a good thing in my book.
Violife Original Flavour is also available in block form, which can be grated or sliced. I find their original grated offering really convenient too. We have used it in both sandwiches and wraps this week. As with all Violife products, it doesn’t really try to replicate the exact flavour of cheese. But if you like a mild cheddar, this is going to taste relatively similar and behave similarly too.
Violife: The Verdict
Interestingly, we haven’t bought many meat and dairy replacement products recently as my husband no longer eats soya. I hadn’t realised that Violife products were free from dairy, soya, gluten, lactose nuts and preservatives. I know this will make a huge difference to people with various allergies and intolerances.
In terms of taste, we all quite like it. My favourites are the taste of the Violife Smoky Cheddar Flavour Slices and the convenience of the Violife Camembert Flavour Le Rond. Being able to heat it up and have it as a vegan alternative to a cheese fondue was great. I would highly recommend it as part of a dinner party grazing plate if you need a dairy-free option. You can also check out the Violife website for a selection of vegan recipes.
Whether or not you like cheese, it is well worth trying Violife to see if it is to your taste. I will be buying the Camembert Flavour Le Rond again because a fondue and grazing plate is quite a sociable way of eating, so it’s nice to have found an option that my daughter enjoys.
