Things to do in Shropshire summer holidays 2025

With the Shropshire summer holidays 2025 rapidly approaching, it’s time for a list of things to do in the area. Lots of attractions have events taking place this year, both indoors and outside. From family trails to fun days and activity camps, there’s lots to see and do around Shropshire. If you’re on a budget, check out my post about free things to do in Shropshire as well.

Attingham Park National Trust

Attingham Park boasts a Georgian Mansion, 200 acres of parkland, a walled garden, natural play area and deer park. A café serves lunches, drinks and snacks and the shops have a range of gifts, plants and second hand books. Events taking place at Attingham Park this summer include:

  • Summer of Play: Discover play zones, workshops and activities from sport to den building to construction play. Dates: 5th July to 1st September 2025. The activities on offer vary day by day, so they suggest checking their social media for dates and times.
  • Canoe Hire: Hire a Canadian Canoe for an hour to use on the River Tern. Various dates from 5th July to 28th September 2025.
  • Adventure Cinema: End the Shropshire Summer Holidays 2025 with an outdoor cinema experience. A variety of films showing on dates from 28th August to 31st August 2025.

Blists Hill Victorian Town, Shropshire summer holidays 2025

Blists Hill is a lovely family day out with the added bonus of learning what life was like in the area during Victorian times. This year, the focus is on a This year, the focus is on a Victorian Childhood. Try out Victorian activities adn games such as hopscotch, hoop and stick, stilts and giant games. Make a hat, kite or boat and don’t forget to fit in a lesson at the Victorian school and visit the fairground.

Boscobel House English Heritage

Visit Boscobel House to find out how King Charles II used it as a place of refuge after defeat in the Civil War. See the priest hole he spent a night in and hear tales of his visit. Stroll down to see a descendant of the oak tree Charles hid in all day while Cromwell’s soldiers were searching for him. Don’t forget to visit the playground, take part in interactive stories and activities and find out about courtly etiquette.

Hawkstone Park Follies

Hawkstone Park Follies are open every day during school holidays 2025 and they recommend booking online in advance to guarantee entry. There is no particular event on for the Summer holidays, but it is always a lovely place to explore as a family. The follies are set in a 100 acre parkland with caves, towers and bridges. The attraction is dog friendly as long as dogs are on a lead at all times. Only the visitor centre and Grand Valley are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Park Hall Farm Countryside Experience

Summer events at Park Hall Farm are as follows:

  • Dinosaur week: 19th to 27th July
  • Get physical: 28th July to 3rd August 2025
  • Maize Maze: 4th August to 28th September
  • Bee Amaized week – opening the maze with the bees knees show: 4th to 10th August 2025.
  • Science week with Grandolph the Wizard: 11th to 17th August 2025.
  • Bird week with Shropshire falconry: 18th to 24th August 2025.
  • Bop & pop party week: 25th to 31st August 2025.

Visitors throughout the school holidays will have full access to the farm park. Don’t forget to check out the indoor and outdoor play areas and museums while you’re there.

RAF Cosford, Shropshire summer holidays 2025

RAF Cosford is said to be one of the best free days out in the West Midlands. You only pay for parking, although donations to the museum are welcome. They are open from 10am to 5pm every day. As well as a huge display of aircraft from different eras, there is an interactive flight display, virtual reality zone, 4D flight with the Red Arrows experience and a children’s playground.

Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre

Visitors to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre this summer have lots to look forward to. Event tickets need to be booked in advance. The following events are aimed at primary school aged children and take place on the dates listed:

How to train your dragon: Would you qualify for the dragon initiation program? It’s time to make a hat with horns, start yelling and start a book of dragons. Children can even feed the dragons by launching sheep from a catapult. Advance booking essential.

Dates: 21st to 25th July 2025 and 11th to 15th August 2025.

Going on a bear hunt: Search for bears around the meadows. Listen to sounds, blow bubbles and make mud cakes. Then, taste some food that bears enjoy cooked on a camp fire.

Dates: 28th to 31st July and 18th to 22nd August.

Summer holiday club: Spend time outdoors exploring nature and finding craft materials. Plant things ready to grow, learn about food, cook, read books and play games.

Dates: 30th and 31st July, 1st, 6th to 8th, 13th to 15th, 20th to 22nd and 27th to 29th August and 1st September 2025.

Remarkable Romans: Find out if you would have been a worthy citizen of Britannia. Try out Roman activities, build a Roman road, write with a wax tablet and try on a toga.
