Getting over the unforgivable
A couple of nights ago, I found out that my husband had cheated on me. And worst of all, my family were complicit. It came to a head when he’d booked a meal for everyone at a time I couldn’t do. He made excuses, but it didn’t add up. Eventually my daughter spilled the beans. The meal had been at HER house.
I confronted him. Well actually, I knocked seven bells out of him.
And then, I woke up.
Furious
The events were so vivid that when I opened my eyes that morning, I couldn’t believe my husband was still there. He’s lucky I realised it wasn’t real before I gave him free dental work. He hadn’t been so fortunate in the dream.
The first thing I did was to wake him up and tell him how cross I was with him. Honestly, I was fuming. And his reaction?
It’s not my fault!
Well, this just made it worse of course. Not only was he unfaithful but he involved my children. My five year old daughter was left to tell me the truth. And as for my family? Wait until I get hold of them, they’re not off the hook.
It was just a dream
I know, I know! But I’m still furious! How do you forgive someone for something as bad as that. There really is no going back is there? How will I ever trust him again?
Have you ever had a dream so vivid that you were still angry when you woke up? Or worse still, you held such a grudge about it that you ended up writing about it days later? I can’t help but wonder if something like this has ever resulted in divorce.
Forgiveness
As it was just a dream, should I really just forgive and forget? Well no, I don’t think so. I deserve a bit of indulgence after what he put me through. I need to feel better about myself, become secure in my own skin and sure that he won’t leave me.
So, we’ll start with a new outfit. I’m thinking something from White Stuff would do the trick. I’d even allow him to use a White Stuff voucher code. Much as I’d love to send him out to buy it for me, he’d never choose the right thing. So, he can take me shopping, just the two of us. But it’s okay because we’ll have a babysitter, it’s the least my family can do after their involvement in all this.
And when I’ve got the dress, I’ll need a new wardrobe to put it in. The girls have a gorgeous oak triple wardrobe. I’d be happy for him to buy me one of those with an Oak Furniture Solutions voucher code. Oh, but it would look so empty with just one outfit in…
The ultimate payback
I’m not sure, but I think there is one thing that would make me forgive him. In fact, we would probably never need to mention it again.
It has been years since we’ve had a holiday abroad. He’s probably been spending all his money on HER. Well, now it’s my turn. Nothing too extravagant though. Just a little cruise with a Royal Caribbean voucher code would do the trick.
He’s lucky I’m so reasonable.
Haha! Oooh, a cruise will work for me too! I used to have dreams that were so vivid that I would actually cry while sleeping!
Aww that’s horrible. Hope you don’t suffer from that anymore.

I’ve had dreams like this and it’s taken me days to get over! I think a cruise would make me get over it quicker x
Haha yeah, it’d definitely help 😉

Ha ha! I love that you were still annoyed with him when you woke up! I think cruise would definitely help me too!
I regularly have this dream – why didn’t I think about cashing in on it!
Haha, next time 😉

Hi Nat, I don’t think I’ve ever woken from a dream feeling angry, but I have woken up feeling puzzled and disorientated. I hope you overspent on his credit card a girl has to look good on a cruise!
xx
Ooh, good point 😉

Lol this is brilliant! I’ve had a dream like this before, I actually felt hatred towards him for most of the day!
Oh I’m so glad it’s not just me. I was furious!

Lol I’ve had this happen before – even though it’s just a dream you feel so angry with them! A cruise sounds like a good way of making amends for it… 🙂
Haha glad it’s not just me. Yep, I could probably forgive him after a cruise 😉
