How to Get That Hotel Bed Feeling at Home – Plus a Pillow Giveaway

There are some things that hotels just seem to do better. Fresh white bedding, fluffy towels, a beautifully made bed and, perhaps most importantly, that feeling of climbing into bed at the end of the day and sinking into a really comfortable pillow.

If you’ve ever come home from a hotel and thought, “I wish my bed was this comfortable”, you’re definitely not alone. So, when I was introduced to Ottoman Textiles, a UK supplier specialising in bedding and textiles for the hospitality industry, I was intrigued to find out more. Why does your pillow matter?

A pillow can make a surprisingly big difference to how comfortable you are at night. My daughters have always been quite jealous of the memory foam pillows that my husband and I have, but I know the pillows would be too thick for them. This has resulted in a rather fruitless search for their ideal pillow – until now.

If a pillow is too flat, too firm or simply doesn’t support you properly, you can spend half the night moving it around trying to get comfortable. And while we tend to think about mattresses when we’re trying to improve our sleep environment, the pillow is something that’s much easier – and generally cheaper – to change.

There’s also something lovely about recreating that hotel feeling at home. Freshly changed bedding, a properly plumped duvet and pillows that make you want to get into bed ridiculously early. Well, my girls have now found their ideal pillows – they are LOVING their new hotel pillows. So, did it make them voluntarily get to bed early? Of course not.

The pillows my girls have fallen in love with – and the ones I’m giving away – are Ottoman Textiles’ Hotel Pillows. They’re designed with the hospitality market in mind, so they’re intended to provide the combination of comfort and durability you’d expect from bedding used in hotels and other accommodation.

The pillows have a 100% conjugate polyester filling and a cover made from 90% polyester and 10% viscose. They’re 48cm x 74cm (19 x 29 inches) and can be machine washed at 40°C.

I think the machine-washable aspect is particularly useful. Bedding gets a lot of use, so being able to wash your pillows is a definite bonus.
