Times like this remind me how lucky I am to work predominantly as a blogger. It’s that time of year where I’m lucky to be able to go to nativity plays and concerts. The school closing for snow days reminded me of how difficult it would have been if I’d had to go out to work. And with a four week holiday coming up, I need the flexibility to be with the girls. No such thing as downtime Unfortunately, it’s also the time of year when blogging work is in short supply. So, I have to take on freelance work…

At last, it feels as if there is a light at the end of the tunnel this term. Unlike many schools, the girls break up for Christmas next week. The festive days out are well underway, I’m spending my usual amount of time avoiding Christmas shopping and haven’t yet bought any cards. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that I’d forgotten about the dental appointment, or the eye test. I knew they were happening, even had a rough idea that they were this week. But they still came as a bit of a surprise. Scribbled notes to school and pre-school. Phone calls to explain lateness and last-minute arrangements to make sure someone would be there to pick them up if I didn’t make it. The passport conundrum Well, it was like this. My husband hasn’t really been able to travel for the past couple of years. We’ve got the dogs…

Two weeks after half term, things are finally back under control. Work is up to date, I’ve managed to fit in some exercise and we’re all back into our routine. Fireworks night I had a decision to make on Saturday. It was fireworks night and I wanted to take the girls to a local display with my husband. But that would have meant leaving the dogs at home when they hate fireworks. It would also have meant starting the week a little behind with work. So instead, I stayed at home and my husband took the girls out for the…
