Things to do in Herefordshire February Half Term 2025

School holidays are approaching again, so it’s time to check out all the things to do in Herefordshire during February half term 2025. Herefordshire has an abundance of beautiful National Trust properties, many of which put on events for children when schools have broken up. If you are a National Trust member, entry to those events will be free. If you’re on a budget, check out these free things to do in Herefordshire as well.

Berrington Hall National Trust

Find out what Valentine’s day was like in the Georgian era at Berrington Hall this February half term. Follow an exciting outdoor adventure trail around the garden. Complete activities and games as you learn and explore. The cost is £3 per trail including a prize.

Brockhampton Estate National Trust

Explore Brockhampton’s orchards this February half term and learn to identify animal tracks as you go. This is winter adventure allows children to uncover and identify the tracks animals leave behind whilst looking out for the real wildlife all around them. Trails cost £3 each including a prize.

Things to do in Herefordshire February Half Term 2025: Courtyard Theatre Hereford

Courtyard Theatre has something a little unexpected on this February, since we would usually associate it with Christmas holidays. When Jack inherits only a cat while his brothers become wealthy, he’s disappointed. That is until his cat puts on its magic boots and they embark on a quest that will change his fate forever. Look out for villains, obstacles and Jack’s bid to impress royalty as the Marquis of Carabas.

Croft Castle

Discover folklore, magic and myths at Croft Castle this February half term. Follow the timeless tales trail around the beautiful grounds of Croft Castle. Look out for the michievous imps that used to surround the castle. The trail costs £3 including a prize.

Things to do in Herefordshire February Half Term 2025: Goodrich Castle English Heritage

Goodrich Castle has not announced an event for February half term 2025, but they are open all week, from 15th to 23rd February. This is a fascinating historical castle that offers visitors a free audio guide to hear about its eventful past. Children will enjoy the free family game that features nine cartoon characters. Each one represents someone who would have lived at the castle. If you manage to climb to the top of the tower, you will enjoy views across the Wye Valley and both English and Welsh countryside.

In most Herefordshire schools, February half term runs from Monday 17th to Friday 21st February 2025. However, private schools and academies often have longer holidays and the dates of them may differ.

Why stay local during school holidays in 2025?

According to the Times, demand for holidays abroad has returned to pre-pandemic levels, but supply has not yet caught up so prices have skyrocketed. That’s why staying local this year might be a good idea – you can do some of these fantastic activities, support the local economy and save up for a holiday next year when prices may have come back down.
