Things to do in Worcestershire October half term and Halloween 2024

There are some lovely things to do in Worcestershire and the surrounding areas this October half term and Halloween. This is a comprehensive list of days out in Worcestershire, as well as other activities such as pumpkin picking. You can jump straight to each one using the links in the table below. All Things Wild Worcestershire October half term

Celebrate Autumn Fest at All Things Wild in Worcestershire this October half term. Make a scarecrow, enjoy autumnal arts and crafts and follow a trail of hidden pumpkins through the enchanted wood. Then, get cosy by the fire and toast some marshmallows. Take on woodland challenges as a team – from physical activities to puzzles all designed to bring team mates together.

Attwell Farm Park

Cauldrons and Cobwebs

It’s time to embrace the autumnal magic at Attwell Farm Park this October half term. Enjoy the cauldrons and cobwebs event with pumpkin carving, creepy crawlies, ghosts, ghostbusters and witches.

Dates: 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th October 2024

Haunted Circus

Visit the haunted circus this October half term for creepy spills, chilling encounters and spooky entertainment. Scooby Doo characters are on hand to entertain you and step into the Beetlejuice bug barn to discover the world of insects.

Dates: 25th October to 3rd November 2024.

Farm of Fear – evening event from 6 to 10 pm

This is an adult thrill-seekers event. Enjoy live music, brave the scare maze and walk through the pumpkin patch after dark. Enjoy tasty food and drink and interact with haunting characters. The fire pit will be lit for marshmallow toasting. This is an event for people aged 16 and over. Under 18s have to be accompanied by someone aged 21 or over.

Dates: 25th, 26th to 29th and 31st October 2024.

Bodenham Arboretum

Visitors can enjoy a pumpkin walk at Bodenham Arboretum this October half term. Choose between a stroll during the daytime or a torch-lit pumpkin walk after dark. Venture around the big pool and farmyard, looking at the carved pumpkins. Evening tickets include a fancy dress competition, Halloween crafts, scary stories and campfire cooking. Different activities take place during the daytime including crafts, afternoon tea and wilderness explorers on different dates. You’ll need to book in advance and remember to wrap up warm and dress for the weather. They encourage people to wear fancy dress, although this may need to go over your warm clothes depending on the weather.

Dates: Torchlit pumpkin walks take place from 25th to 31st October 2024 and Daytime walks from 26th October to 3rd November 2024.

Croome National Trust

It’s all about the magic of nature at Croome this October half term. Search the parkland for all the ingredients you need to make a magical nature potion. The trail costs £3 per family and includes a wand, potion sheet and activity booklet.

Hartlebury Castle

Witch and Wizard School

Wear fancy dress and head to the craft area to make a wand. Then, head to the Great Hall where Professor Bumbledum will be leading spell practice.

Halloween pumpkin carving

Visitors can choose a pumpkin, scoop out the middle and draw a design on it. Pumpkin carvers are on hand to cut out your design for you.

Spooky Skeleton Trail

Hunt for the skeletons that lurk around the castle. Dress up in your Halloween costume and make sure you enjoy the adventure playground while you’re there.

Little Owl Farm Park

Pick your own pumpkin, meet Smokey the dragon, take part in a daily fancy dress competition and enjoy a chocolate apple as well as the usual farm park fun. There’s even a new adventure playground at the farm this year.

Severn Valley Railway Worcestershire October half term

Two Halloween events take place at Severn Valley Railway this October half term. Choose between family fun on the ghost train, or a decidedly frightening experience on the scream train.

Ghost Train

It’s all aboard the Ghost Train at Severn Valley Railway this half term. Start off your evening at Kidderminster station, then find your reserved seats and ride the ghost train into the night. Look out for scary characters sneaking around in the corridors as you pass haunted stations en route to Arley. There’s a free Halloween goody bag for children and the experience lasts for around 75 minutes.

Scream Train

Those aged over 18 who are feeling brave might prefer to board the Scream Train. Your evening starts at Kidderminster station’s King & Castle pub. Then, head to platform 1 to board the train, but look out for something lurking in the darkness. Severn Valley Railway advise holding tight to the handrail and locking the door to your compartment, because there’s something coming to get you. The experience lasts for around 75 minutes.

Spetchley Park

Take the kids back to school this half term at Spetchley park – but this time it’s a school for Wizards! Help to rid Spetchley of the ghosts in their gardens. Learn ghost-busting skills and grab a wand, a broomstick and put your new tricks to good use. There will be potions, charms, spells and ghost hunting.

West Midlands Safari Park Worcestershire October half term

West Midlands Safari Park will have a spooky spectacular running this October half term. With hundreds of pumpkins in the pumpkin patch and Halloween decorations galore, visitors will feel truly autumnal. Meet new Mitzy the monster and Pumpkin-headed Patch, who hosts a live silly science show. Follow a free monster mystery trail to win a tasty treat. Don’t forget to ride the spooky VR ride while you’re there.

Witley Court Worcestershire October half term

After dark is the best time to visit Witley Court this Halloween. It’s a spooky place at the best of times, and this year you’ll see it in a whole new light. Listen to storytellers, learn magical folklore and enjoy eery delights. Follow the glow of the light trail and meet fairytale characters. Look out for witches and enchanted beings. There will be treats as well as tricks, with a firepit for toasting marshmallows and winter warmers to help you refuel.
