With October half term 2026 approaching, there are lots of things to do in Worcestershire for families. From Halloween events and spooky trails to pumpkin picking, autumn days out and family-friendly activities, there are plenty of ways to keep the children entertained during the school holidays.
I’ve put together this guide to the best October half term and Halloween events in Worcestershire for 2026, including ideas for different ages and interests. Whether your children love Halloween and dressing up or you’re simply looking for a fun family day out during half term, there should be plenty of options to choose from.

All Things Wild Worcestershire October half term
All Things Wild is a great option for a family day out in Worcestershire during October half term, with plenty to see and do even though they haven’t yet announced a specific October half term event for 2026. You can meet a wide range of animals, explore the dinosaur attractions, enjoy the outdoor play areas and Dino Land Train, and make use of the indoor activities if the weather isn’t on your side. With a mixture of animals, play and attractions, it’s a good choice for families looking for something to do during the school holidays, and it’s worth checking the All Things Wild website for any half term activities that are announced closer to the time.

Attwell Farm Park
Attwell Farm Park is going all out for Halloween this year with its Pumpkins & Potions October half-term event. Families can enjoy pumpkin picking, a Halloween pantomime, spooky bubble discos, creepy crawlies, roaming Halloween characters, a ghost hunt and plenty of spooky photo opportunities. There’s also indoor soft play, farm animals, play areas and other attractions included, making this a good option for a full family day out whatever the weather.

Bodenham Arboretum
Visitors can enjoy a pumpkin walk at Bodenham Arboretum this October half term. Choose between a stroll during the daytime or a torch-lit pumpkin walk after dark. Venture around the big pool and farmyard, looking at the carved pumpkins. Evening tickets include a fancy dress competition, Halloween crafts, scary stories, spooky stilt-walkers and campfire cooking. Different activities take place during the daytime including crafts, afternoon tea and wilderness explorers on different dates. You’ll need to book in advance and remember to wrap up warm and dress for the weather. They encourage people to wear fancy dress, although this may need to go over your warm clothes depending on the weather.
Dates: Torchlit pumpkin walks take place from 23rd to 31st October 2026 and Daytime walks from 24th October to 1st November 2026.

Croome National Trust
We LOVE a day out at Croome, and this October half term will be a fun time to visit. Croome has a spooky adventure planned for October half term with The Crone’s Croome Conquest. Families can download the Stranger Folk app and follow a mystical trail around the gardens, helping the Old Crone stop mischievous spirits from another world. Along the way, you’ll encounter enchanted trail points and tree spirits, with British folklore, hobgoblins, bogarts, riddles and challenges to discover. The trail is aimed particularly at children aged 7–12, although everyone is welcome to take part, making this a fun addition to a family day out at Croome during October half term. The event is free with the price of admission and can take as long as you want it to.

Hartlebury Castle
A couple of different events take place at Hartlebury Castle this October half term so do check the dates before you go.
- Monday 26th October 2026 – Halloween Hunt: An outdoor Halloween hunt for miniature pumpkins that spell out clues. Collect them all and exchange them for a real pumpkin from the Castle’s pumpkin patch.
- Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th October: Pumpkin carving, Halloween Crafts and Halloween Trail.

Little Owl Farm Park
Little Owl Farm Park is holding a Spooky Harvest Festival during October half term, with a mix of Halloween activities and the usual farm park fun. Children can take part in a Witches Flying School, potion classes, meet dragons, decorate chocolate apples and munchkin pumpkins, and enjoy marshmallow toasting. There are also indoor play areas, undercover bouncy pillows, animal barns and animal encounters, making it a good option for a family day out whatever the weather. The farm will also have pumpkins available to buy.

Severn Valley Railway Worcestershire October half term
Three Halloween events take place at Severn Valley Railway this October half term. Decide on the scare-level you’re after before deciding which one to book!
Autumn Half Term
All aboard for a family adventure at Severn Valley Railway this October Half Term! Enjoy a scenic journey on heritage diesel or steam-hauled trains, with complimentary ‘Eye Spy’ booklets to keep young explorers engaged. Visit The Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley, where you can let off steam in the outdoor play area or get hands-on sorting mail in the travelling post office. Entry to The Engine House is free, though parking is limited—travelling by heritage train is recommended.

Ghost Trains
Embark on a 75-minute Ghost Train journey from Kidderminster to the haunted station at Arley, where eerie surprises and ghoulish characters await. Each child receives a complimentary goodie bag to add to the thrill. Expect a night of frightful fun. Tickets are limited and must be pre-booked.

Scream Train
Brace yourself for a spine-chilling adventure aboard the Scream Train at Severn Valley Railway. Departing from Kidderminster, this adults-only (18+) experience immerses you in a nightmarish journey through haunted stations and eerie landscapes. With actors, darkened carriages, and unsettling sounds, the Scream Train offers a terrifyingly immersive ride that promises to test your courage. Tickets are limited and must be pre-booked. This event is very popular and sells out quickly, so be sure to secure your tickets in advance.

West Midlands Safari Park Worcestershire October half term 2026
West Midland Safari Park is going big on Halloween in 2026 with its Spooky Spectacular, running throughout October half term. Families can enjoy Patch’s Pumpkin Party live show, spooky walkabouts with Frankie and Mitzy, a Movie Monsters trail with clues and a sweet treat, Halloween crafts and themed areas around the park. There’s also a torchlight Dino Quest for those looking for something a little more adventurous, while the theme park rides will be available on selected dates, including the chance to ride after dark.
There’s also a brand-new Safari Skies drone show on 31 October, with hundreds of drones creating wildlife-inspired displays in the night sky.

Witley Court Worcestershire October half term
There’s no particular event on at Witley Court this half term, but it’s a lovely place to visit and spend time outdoors as a family. Witley Court is an English Heritage property with woodland walks, formal gardens and a fascinating stately home that is completely in ruins. Not only is it an ideal destination for a family day out, but it’s dog friendly too.

Dog-friendly October half term days out in Worcestershire
If you’re looking for dog-friendly things to do in Worcestershire during October half term, there are several attractions where you can enjoy a family day out without leaving your four-legged friend at home. Dogs are welcome at some of Worcestershire’s parks, gardens, outdoor attractions and country estates, although restrictions vary and some Halloween events may have specific rules.
Dog-friendly options in this guide include:
- Croome: dogs are welcome in parts of the wider estate and parkland, with plenty of space for autumn walks.
- Witley Court: this is really dog friendly as well and it’s a lovely place to have a walk with the whole family including children and dogs.
- Severn Valley Railway: I love an unusual dog friendly day out and dogs are allowed to travel on the train with you at Severn Valley Railway as long as you buy them their own doggy train ticket.
- Hartlebury Castle: dogs are allowed in the grounds, reception building and the outdoor seating area of the café at Hartlebury Castle.
- Bodenham Arboretum: dogs on short leads are welcome at Bodenham Arboretum as long as they stay outdoors and you clear up after them and keep them under control around any farm animals and birds that may be around.
Always check the attraction’s current dog policy before setting off, particularly for Halloween events, as dogs may not be permitted in certain areas or during specific activities.
