Inspirational Parents #4

My first Inspirational Parents post a few weeks ago started off the series with a fabulous blogger. It was so popular that I thought it was time I brought you another inspirational parent blogger. Amy blogs at Mr and Mrs T Plus Three and I would describe her as a parent blogger with style. She hasn’t been blogging for that long but her blog has very quickly become extremely popular. Amy manages to balance parenting two teenagers and a toddler with running her highly successful blog, working as a freelance writer and being incredibly glamorous whenever a camera is around. So with…

Win a family pass to a deep sea world

A little while ago, we were lucky enough to be chosen as ambassadors for the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. We had a fabulous guided tour just a few weeks ago when Lia fell in love with the penguins in her own inimitable manner. They also had the fabulous Lego attraction there, which was great for little ones. They had the opportunity to follow a lego treasure hunt, with giant lego pieces hidden in some of the tanks. They can even build a lego sea creature. At the end, they receive an activity pack with stickers and a fun scuba mask.…

Being a grown up

I look at my little girls, listen to them laughing and see them smiling. I hear their little grizzles about all the terrible things in their lives. Not being able to find their favourite toy, not being allowed to stay at the park or being unhappy with their lot at dinner time. The terrible atrocities that are going on in the…

Our Thursday Photo #59

This week really has flown by, but in a good way I think. The most exciting development this week has been that Lia’s speech is really coming along. She probably only has a little over a dozen words still, but she’s really putting them to good use and making herself understood. This has changed the relationship between the girls again, because Libby is really getting something back from Lia now when they play together. Lia’s walking isn’t progressing quite so well. I took her to see the GP today because her left foot turns out quite dramatically when she walks.…

How do organised people tackle theme parks?

We are lucky enough to have annual passes for the amazing Drayton Manor theme park. We all absolutely love it there, so we jumped at the  chance to join some friends there today to celebrate their little girl’s birthday. As always, we had a fabulous day. This good, in fact.   The problem was — and always is — that I’m just as rubbish at theme parks as I am at life in general. When we arrived, I took ages putting sun cream on the girls because I wasn’t organised enough to do it in advance. Our friends then went…

Learning from the best

As parents, we all do our best to show our children the right path. We try to teach them right from wrong and guide them to always do their best and be happy. Sometimes though, adults just don’t make great teachers. By adulthood, we have all become cynical and negative to a greater or lesser degree. We often fail to take in the beauty of our surroundings. And of course, as a species we are systematically destroying that beauty day after day. So sometimes, children need role models that are not adults. And in my humble opinion, that’s where pets…

Give it back

On Friday things were looking good, The weekend loomed ahead. I did some work and had a drink, And wasn’t late to bed.   Saturday looked better, In spite of all the rain. We went to hear some music, And bounce on castles yet again. Then Sunday was a lovely day, A lunch with some great friends. Exploring in their garden, The adventure never ends. But now it seems it’s Sunday night, It’s come round just like that. So can whoever took my weekend, Please kindly give it back?
